According to a survey run by lifehacker.com to find out what operating systems netbooks users prefer the most popular came out as being Windows 7 which was more than ten per cent in from of the nearest rival.

Following up in second place was Ubuntu, the OS X, Jolicloud and in fifth place was Linux Mint, any surprises in there at all? Apart from the fact that the majority of all new netbooks come with Windows 7 already installed.

Battery issues for Windows 7

Following complaints from netbook users that after installing Windows 7 they were experiencing serious battery life issues, Microsoft have announced that they are looking in to the problem.

The issues vary from user to user, but basically what happens is the user installs Windows 7, then they get a message saying that their battery is failing or failed and that they should consider replacing it!

Surprisingly this is not a new issue as it started almost immediately after the release candidate was made available to users.

HP launches the $749 Mini 5102!

Many of us believed that the new HP netbook was going to be reasonably priced, by that we assume that it would cost around $400, but it seems that something has gone terribly wrong here somewhere because all of a sudden the new mini has a price tag of $749, although there is a lower model with a $599 price tag.

The only thing that seems the separate the models is the operating system; the basic model comes with Windows 7 Starter, while the rest of the range came with Windows 7 Professional installed.
