With more devices, requiring access to the USB port things can easily get congested very quickly, but for some laptop and netbook owners the USB ports can be limited one port, which can cause serious issues. That is where the USB Squid comes in very handy, with four ports to use, instead just the one! Here are the specs and features of the interesting USB Squid: You can actually connect the USB ports using these ridges in many different configurations. Maybe you need four vertical ports or four horizontal or the end two free and the middle stacked or maybe a zig zag hub. The choice is yours. Let us see a real squid do that! The USB Squid has a 12″ long cord and is USB2.0 (of course). Priced at $17.99 Source [Think Geek] a squid device, USB, USB Gadgets, usb ports
a

This is cool laptop that is light, slim and runs on Vista home basic, it has some nice features for a 14.1 inch display model, such as silver flashes along the front edge. There are only two USB ports, which is slightly disappointing, but what can you do. Features: This desktop features 2GB of DDR2 system memory enough to handle everyday computing needs. DDR2 is slightly faster than DDR, the previous standard in system memory. AMD employs HyperTransport technology, which works like a fully integrated front side bus that increases bandwidth, reduces bottlenecks and enables processors to work more efficiently. The end result is better performance. Processors search for the same data over and over. L2 caches keep this data neat, organized, and nearby so it can be retrieved more quickly. This 512KB L2 cache gives the processor a little boost. Priced at $430 Source [Cheap Laptops] a 14" Laptops, cheap laptops, emachine, eMachines Laptops, front side bus, laptop, usb ports
a

eMachines have always been the low-cost alternative. But now with netbooks flooding the market, eMachines needs to step up its game. So, the company is releasing a full sized laptop for less than $400. Is the eMD620 woth it? Let’s see. As a Best Buy exclusive, this notebook is subpar. An Athlon 2650e with 1.6 GHz won’t get you very far in the office of on the net and the low 1 GB of RAM will surely lead to slowdown within a year. Plus, the little thing us pretty ugly, sports low battery life and only has two USB ports. Overall you are looking at a bad netbook with the only advantage being a bigger screen. Why not go buy a real netbook insted? There is no reaosn for this laptop to exist. Boo. Operating System: Microsoft Windows Vista Processor: AMD Athlon 2650e Processor Speed: 1.6 GHz RAM: 1 GB Weight: 5.3 lbs.
When it comes to laptop accessories, the standard mice and bags are all to common. But the Arbella Laptop Cool Table might help reinvent the laptop-couch-potato’s’ habits. There are a number of plastic-slab tables out there, but none quite like this one. And as any Laptop Pimp will know, a hot laptop on the “important area” can;t be good for the “troops.” Overall, the Laptop Cool Table is really simple. Two USB powered fans frun on the bottom of the table to keep your lap and laptop cool. This is great for new powerful laptops or older laptops with cooling problems. So if heating is a problem, this might be a solution. Now, I didn’t get a hands on trial of the Laptop Cool Table, so I can’t speak for its design or quality. But, I can see that it’s a good idea. One downside may be the table’s need to take up one of your USB ports. But, you don’t need another wall socket to plug it in, so there is a trade off there. Other than that one possible downside, the Laptop Cool Table seems like a smart solution to the hot balls problem. The table’s “specs:” Size: … Continue reading →
a

Here’s another netbook from Mouse Computer. I haven’t heard of Mouse Computer before, I think it’s a Japanese company that sells laptops only in Japan. Anyways, it looks like a carbon-copy of the ASUS Eee PC. Mouse Computer just informed us of the October release of their new Netbook. The G1000 will feature 10.2-Inch LCD screen with WSVGA resolution (1024×600), an Intel Atom N270 (1.6GHz), 1GB of RAM, 160GB of SATA HDD, multi card reader (SD / Memorystick / MemoryStick Pro / Multimedia Card), Wi-Fi b/g, three USB ports, and a 1.3Mpix Webcamera. It comes with a 6 cell battery, weighs 1.4kg, measures 259x180x35mm and runs on Windows XP Home Edition SP3. We don’t have a price at the moment, but we expect the same price as currently released Netbooks. via akihabaranews a 10.2" Netbooks, asus eee pc, atom, carbon copy, card reader, cell battery, g1000, inch lcd screen, japanese company, Laptop News, Laptop Rumors, Laptop Specs, laptops, memorystick pro, mouse computer, multimedia card, netbook, Netbook Reviews, Netbook Reviews, pc mouse, pro multimedia, usb ports, windows xp, windows xp home, windows xp home edition
a

Download latest version of Flash to view video!. Click Here to View in Full Screen Mode Here’s a video of China’s HiVision $98 Linux Mini-laptop equipped with a MIPS processor, 1GB flash drive, and some more basic features. I do like this small Linux system as it’s versatile for doing a lot for less. Of course, having a Google Chrome Browser on these mini-laptops would be extra special. HiVision makes the worlds cheapest Linux laptop at $98 using a new cheaper MIPS based processor (perhaps the Longsoon or the Ingenic), WiFi, 1GB flash storage, it runs Linux, has 3 USB ports, Ethernet, SDHC card reader, audio in and out, voice-chat, skype, multi-tabbed Firefox browser support and Abiword for word processing. Automatic and secure online software updates. Their current model is running a smooth and pretty snappy Linux user interface. In this video, I got to borrow a review sample of the laptop overnight, and I try to show you all the browser and other software interfaces in this extended video review of this cheap MIPS based laptop. Embedded is the way that I hope that most cheap laptops are going to be based on in the near future, Google will … Continue reading →
a

Check out the latest Samsung X360, which will never be here in the U.S. but looks as slim as a MacBook. Berlin, Germany, August 29, 2008 – Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., a market leader in consumer electronics and world leader in IT technology, today lifted the lid on the most innovative addition to its ever expanding notebook range – the ultra-lightweight Samsung X360. Capable of meeting the extreme performance and connectivity needs of the new aristocrats of the mobile world, the X360 sets a completely new standard in mobile computing – offering a comprehensive set of features unlike anything of its kind on the market. Even though it is the lightest notebook in its 13.3 inch class, weighing a miniscule 1.27 kg*, the Samsung X360 incorporates all of the extensive functionality demanded by ultra mobile and results-driven professionals. Unlike the claims of some other “light” notebooks, the X360 is fully featured without compromise, including 3 USB ports, a built-in HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface) connection, a 34mm express card slot and VGA output. For fast and easy transfer of documents, images, video or music it incorporates a highly flexible 7 in 1 memory card reader, Bluetooth 2.0+EDR* (Enhanced Data Rate) … Continue reading →
a

Dell’s new Inspiron 910, the first ever mini-notebook by Dell, will have an option to have Ubuntu Linux installed from factory. FYI, Ubuntu is a free operating system based on Linux. It’s not the easiest Linux to install (well most Linux are pretty damn hard to install) but since Ubuntu comes installed in the new Dell, we think it’s a better deal than Windows or a Mac. Of course, Dell never has sold Linux-equipped PCs in the past but they are starting to change along with everyone else in this world. We hope that one day, we would never have to even know what “Windows” is and that enough Linux systems will be available for every laptop. At least finally, I might buy a Dell again, simply because they provide an option for “Window-lessness”. There’s a lot to like about the Inspiron 910 – the 1.6GHz Intel Atom CPU is a beaut, it comes fitted with 512MB or 1GB or memory, has a sweet looking 8.9″ WLED screen running at 1024 x 600, three USB ports, a LAN port, decent audio and storage options ranging from 4GB to 16GB (4GB feels a little on the tight side to me, I think I’d … Continue reading →
a

Lenovo is introducting its own line of mini-laptops, the Lenovo IdeaPad S10. Check out the specs: The 10-inch 1024 x 600-pixel (WSVGA) resolution screen also looks extremely promising and is LED backlit for power saving. The speakers lining the front of the system also give it a different look and will hopefully blast out some decent sound as they aren’t buried on the bottom. Lenovo has seemed to work in all the important ports. The netbook includes Bluetooth connectivity, 802.11b/g , and an ExpressCard for popping in a mobile broadband card. It also sports a LAN connection and VGA-out. It has a 1.3-megapixel webcam, two USB ports, mic and headphone jacks, and a 4-in-1 card reader. I am hesitant about only 2 USB ports. via engadget – laptopmag a 802 11b, card reader, decent sound, expresscard, headphone jacks, lan connection, Laptop News, laptopmag, laptops, lenovo, Lenovo Laptops, mic, mini laptop, mini notebook, resolution screen, speakers, usb ports, webcam
a

Belkin is coming out with another really cool Laptop Cooler. I currently use an el-cheapo from Target but this one does look a little more promising. Belkin International, Inc., announces four new products to round out its laptop accessories offering. Belkin’s new CushTop Hideaway protects your lap from a hot computer and conveniently stores your laptop when you are finished. The Laptop Cooling Hub keeps your laptop cool and gives you four extra USB ports to connect devices like an external hard drive, mouse, and webcam. With an adjustable-height mechanism and a wider footprint, the Cooling Lounge makes for a more comfortable computing experience on your lap. The simple design of the CoolStrip lifts your laptop, allowing it to breathe while also managing your power cord. via gizmodo – notcot a belkin, comfortable computing, el cheapo, external hard drive, hideaway, hot computer, hub, Laptop Accessories, laptop cooler, laptop cooler, laptop cooling, Laptop Mat, notcot, power cord, target, usb ports, webcam
a
