The time may have come when netbooks are given away for free by the mobile carriers, according to the Head of a Linux advocacy group, the Linux foundation. He was speaking at a Beijing forum of prominent Chinese business people. Many companies such as AT&T already sell subsidised 3G netbooks in the US and in fact the same is beginning to happen in China, but to actually give a netbook away in the similar manner as a mobile phone is, may just be one step too far. However, the prediction coming out of this meeting is that within a year a Linux based netbook will be free to the user who signs up with a certain carrier.
This is an interesting concept machine that could make a mini laptop even smaller, perhaps even small enough to put in your pocket. It is loosely based on the butterfly keyboard that expands when opened, except this one folds out like a piece of paper. That is not all though, to gauge the size of this device if you unfold it once it is a flip phone, unfold it again and it is the mini laptop, it is a cool idea.
