The spread of USB 3.0 is on the move with the latest manufacturer Sony installing the superfast connections into the Vaio HD laptops, but as Intel seem to be dragging their heels on this one, it seems that Sony could be calling upon either NEC or Renesas to power the units.

Amazon is doing well today, but the pre-order pages on its site are very interesting. Amazon UK is offering all three colours for pre-order (white, brown and pink) for £430 but there is no estimated release date is given, although Sony expects the Vaio W in the stores by the middle of August. The Vaio W is also available for pre-order in the US through Amazon.com for $499.99, but only in the brown and pink colour.

It is just typical that Sony decided to show off the wonderful Vaio W in an event in Milan, Italy! After all what has Milan got apart from style, design, warm Italian sunshine and okay I get the point. This computer is more style driven than performance although the performance is also up there in specs too. Hopefully we will be able to get out hands on one these real soon to see just how good it is.

The W series in the Sony Vaio range is nothing more than an additional computer to be used when the owner is out and about. As for the battery, it comes with a three cell standard variety, but will also come with the option to order the better six cell battery that is supposed to run for around five hours.

This is the Sony version of netbook, although in Sony’s eyes this word apparently does not exist. Instead, this device is the “Internet Book” could this be new generic name for mini laptops? However, of course this is a netbook by anyone’s standard and because Sony is well known for going in high on the price and there is no reason to expect that this time anything will be any different.
