It may come as a surprise that there are not many consumers who know what the difference is between a notebook and netbook computer. In fact, there may even be some industry experts who are equally confused about the terms. Some people think that is has something to do with size, well in theory it could be that, but there are certain things that full sized laptops can do that their smaller brothers cannot, like watching and burning DVD’s. Netbooks would traditionally have slower processors and lower resolution displays; this will make watching video and playing games not the best experience. It turns out that some comsumers have bought a netbook thinking that it was a smaller version of a laptop. However, it turns out that they did not mind either.
With advances in laptop bags, you want to get the best laptop bag for your money. But aside from advances in the bags, I find that it’s more feasible and practical if you carry a laptop bag that’s comfortable for your shoulders, especially for those long trips where you will be carrying your laptop for more than 5 hours. For such road warriors, I highly recommend to get a netbook or a small laptop couple with this Belkin Laptop Sling Bag, the best one I found for the price you pay. Without a doubt, sling bags are great since they secure your laptop very well while allowing you better mobility over other types of laptop bags. Do note there’s also a hidden compartment on the sholder strap for your cellphone. Fully padded compartment keeps your laptop isolated and safe from bumps and scratches Fits laptops with screens 15.4 inches or smaller Available in two colors: jet/cabernet and chocolate/blue Separate pouch inside stores your power cords and other accessories; cell phone compartment on shoulder strap Exterior dimensions: 18 x 12.5 x 5 inches; notebook compartment dimensions: 17 x 11.5 x 2 inches Price $37.29 on Amazon a amazon, cabernet, cell phone, … Continue reading →
a

eMachines have always been the low-cost alternative. But now with netbooks flooding the market, eMachines needs to step up its game. So, the company is releasing a full sized laptop for less than $400. Is the eMD620 woth it? Let’s see. As a Best Buy exclusive, this notebook is subpar. An Athlon 2650e with 1.6 GHz won’t get you very far in the office of on the net and the low 1 GB of RAM will surely lead to slowdown within a year. Plus, the little thing us pretty ugly, sports low battery life and only has two USB ports. Overall you are looking at a bad netbook with the only advantage being a bigger screen. Why not go buy a real netbook insted? There is no reaosn for this laptop to exist. Boo.
cNet reported Dell announced the Inspiron Mini 9 will rival HP’s Mini 1000 by adding 3G network support. Dell’s Mini 9 are now shipping with the built-in wireless network made famous by the iPhone. Mac rumors are all over the place, with a number of sources, including ComputerWorld, reporting that Apple might be releasing a netbook in 2009. So far, analysts are saying Mac will never make a low-cost netbook. But there might be some sort of “entry-level notebook” on the way. cNet is also wondering if Blu-Ray drives are worth the time and money in laptops with smaller displays. Sure, a nice high-def player on a 17-inch display is great. But on an 11-inch display? What’s the point Thanks for reading today.
Seeing that I’m a big Apple fan, I’m curious to see if the latest MacBook Air rumors turn out the be true. Apple Insider has it that the next line of MacBook Air laptops will switch from an aluminum case to a new carbon fiber setup to cut the weight of the worlds thinnest laptop down to under three pounds! The new carbon fiber would be used on the bottom of the laptop. What’s carbon fiber, well just what it sounds like, according to Apple Insider: Carbon fiber is an extremely lightweight material comprised of very thin fibers about 0.005–0.010 millimeters in diameter and composed mostly of carbon atoms. The atoms bond together in microscopic crystals that are aligned parallel to the long axis of the fiber and can thus be used to form exceptionally strong composites without requiring more material. Sounds great, but does the Air need to loose weight? Right now, the notebook sits right above three pounds, and the fiber case is rumored to lower that weight to 2.78 pounds? Is that small of a weight loss really needed? Will anyone notice? Will it affect the price? And that there, my friends, is the kicker.
My favorite laptop magazine, LaptopMag.com has a great hands-on review of Windows 7 on a Laptop: While our operating system is described as a pre-beta, everything seems very solid. We used the system for hours without a crash or a blue screen of death in sight. We didn’t install many apps, but those we did—Adobe Reader, Firefox, CamStudio, and GIMP—all ran flawlessly. If this is the pre-beta, we can’t wait to see the beta. I think Windows 7 is actually geared towards laptops and netbooks with less memory power. This is great news for all you laptop whores, as we will finally have the “lean and mean” version of Windows Vista. Of course, you can also read the full review of WIndows 7 operating system in general on our brother blog Zedomax.com. a adobe reader, blue screen of death, brother, camstudio, crash, gimp, great news, laptop magazine, Laptop News, Laptop Rumors, memory power, Netbook Reviews, notebook, operating system, whores
a

Although MSI Notebook listed as #2 choice for our latest Netbook Review, MSI is coming out with a new Wind U120 that might change all that. What I like about this new MSI netbook is the fact that either WiMAX or HSDPA broadband connection will be available through SIM card insertion or subscription from Sprint’s new WiMAX network. Another rumor is that the new MSI might come with 20GB/40GB SSDs, which is a good thing but I still feel regular ol’ harddrives are better as SSD are still having some problems with Windows XP writes. We will have to wait and see but I am glad that MSI is already working on the new laptop. According to what we know so far, the new U120 will feature either a 120GB hard drive or 20/40GB SSD which will come at a later date. Other specs should be similar to the older U100, as there are no changes to the CPU or other key features. The business side of the U120 will be in its connectivity, as this one should come with 802.11n Wi-Fi and built-in 3.5G modem that will accept a SIM card. via laptopfresh, source a 10.2" Netbooks, 120gb hard … Continue reading →
a

Here’s a hands-on video review of Raon Digital’s Everun Notebook and we really like it a LOT. Raon Digital’s tiny 7-inch offering packs a 1.2GHz AMD Turion CPU, 1GB of DDR2 RAM, and a 12GB SSD. UMPC Portal’s hand model loves the size, build quality, features, and most notably the performance, but we’re still having a hard time getting over the $879 asking price, and that modified keyboard layout with punctuation keys in the upper-right would be a liability in our Friday night blogger WPM deathmatches. (Winner gets the early shift on Monday!)
The new Raon Digital Everun Notebook comes with a touchscreen and lots of “small” functionalities for the power user at the current predicted retail price of $879 USD. It looks pretty small to me and I do like that couple with a 7″ 1024×600 pixels, which provide you with plenty room to scroll. Of course, the price doesn’t justify the features provided in my opinion but there’s enough power in this small 7-inch beast. (I do like the Windows XP, no more Vista on any of my new comps.) This balance of leading-edge power, battery life and miniaturisation doesn’t come cheap but in the world of pro-mo devices, this is really on-the-mark. The recommended sales price is $879 (US, before tax.) which means its way, way cheaper than the other high-performance UMPCs, the Sony UX and the Q1 Ultra Premium and it includes a 16mm pitch keyboard and easy 3G upgrade path. With Windows XP Home (yes, I know some of you would be looking for TE or Vista) it will really fly. via engadget, umpcportal Other Resources: Link to Technical Specs of Raon Digital Everun Notebook a 1024x600, 7" Netbooks, battery life, beast, functionalities, high performance, keyboard, Laptop News, … Continue reading →
a
