The long term legal case over the term “NetBook” continues with Intel coming out and basically calling Psion liars over the amount of netbooks that the Psion claim to have sold since 2003. Psion have written to the likes of Dell and Intel stating that the name netbook is owned by Psion and has been for a long time. However, as Psion no longer make or sell hardware both Dell and Intel dispute the ownership. Nevertheless, Psion have come back with the answer that they do still sell hard ware, which in this case is the Psion Netbook through websites and direct sales. It is these figures that Dell and Intel are disputing; of course, what they really want is the name netbook to use for themselves. Source [Liliputing] a 10" Netbooks, dell, Dell Laptops, intel, Intel Laptops, legal case, Netbook Reviews, psion netbook, Psion Netbooks
a

For today’s choice of netbook review worth getting and worth your time, we are going to be recommending the most expensive “blue” Samsung NC10-14GB from Amazon. For all its worth, Samsung has been making laptops for longer than anyone else including both Acer and Aspire. In the past, Samsung has stopped selling their top-of-the-line laptops in America, due to the fact that the market here has fierce competition and the laptops were made, localized to South Koreans, not Americans. Anyways, they are getting back in the U.S. market with these new, sleek netbooks and I am sure you can bet your money on their brand. My dad used to get these netbooks way before they came out in America like 5 years back, I don’t think this is new stuff for Samsung. What I like most about this laptop is the fact that it only weight 2.9 pounds, Windows XP, large 160GB harddrive, and all the network connections. The price might come a little more pricey over other netbooks but I think this laptop will perform to your standards. Get it here on Amazon and SAVE. 10.2″ Wide, 1024 x 600 WSVGA , 220 nits Intel Atom processor N270, 1.6 … Continue reading →
a

Finally HP have come up with a 6 Cell Battery for the Mini 1000, but some people are going to be slight fed up with it as it carries a price tag of $153.90, which by anyone’s standards is quite steep when you consider that the starting price of the original laptop is around $350. However, these batteries are expensive no matter where you go or which brand of laptop you are buying. The problem for buyers of these netbooks is that they are sold as being portable and therefore a battery with some power behind it in order for the user to make use of its portability. Source [Portable Monkey] a batteries, cell battery, hp, HP Laptops, laptop, Laptop Accessories, Laptop Batteries, mini 1000, Netbook Reviews, price tag
a

In order for computer maker Dell to regain the top spot of being number one in the computer industry they cannot avoid going slim any longer. The laptop market is no longer the same as it was this is because it is fragmenting into different sectors such as netbooks and hand helds. Dell are reported to be working on a slimmed down version of their range of laptops, this would help them claw back some of the lost ground in theory, although Acer have Dell in their sites too. It is a wheel hub that transfers data at a rate of up to 480 Mbps. This is very important for the owners of newer laptops, small netbooks as these tend to have only one or two USB ports, and even then, they are in awkward places, which make it difficult to use a lot of the equipment that uses these ports today. Priced at $8 Source [Coolest Gadgets] [Gallery] a gadgets, Laptop Accessories, laptops, mbps, Netbook Reviews, USB, usb port, usb ports, wheel, wheel hub
a

The Dell Mini 9 is their top pick for a netbook, and with a recent price drop, it’s mine too. Although, I do also like the HP Mini 10. For medium to full-sized laptops, the cNet crew picked the Gateway T-6838, which is a little surprising to me, but I’ll let them explain: a christmas, dell mini 9, gateway t-6838, hp mini 10, Laptop Reviews, Netbook Reviews
a

Wired doesn’t care how hot the netbook market is, they don’t think Apple will make a $99 power play. And cNet has the lead on a hot deal, a Dell Mini 9 netbook for $299. a acer, apple, asus, dell mini 9, Laptop News, Netbook Reviews
a

Well, Bloomberg says Microsoft is starting to feel the economic crunch. It makes me wonder if the fact that most netbooks run XP has anything to do with it? Meanwhile, the most mainstream of mainstream newspapers, USA Today, has embraced netbooks as the next tech trend. Earlier this week, the Times talked about people ditching their TV for a laptop. I did. Did you? Ars is talking about AMD’s new external GPUs. Pretty neat.
Cyber Monday might have given all the laptop chip-makers all the proof they needed that netbooks are the next big trend, and if sales keep moving up like they are, netbooks might be the new laptop. cNet is reporting that AMD and a number of other internal parts makers will be entering the netbook market next year. This is a huge change for AMD, who recently aid they would be staying away from netbooks. However, AMD has said they will be looking to on-up Intel’s 10″ netbook market with a larger 12,13 and 14-inch line of netbooks carrying its processors. Interesting that a chip maker is making such an impact on market design. Check out the article, as it gets into 3G, another new and important trend, and a number of other advances that will propel netbooks next year. Meanwhile, no new rumors about Mac’s plans as far at netbooks are concerned. a amd, intel, Laptop Rumors, Netbook Reviews, Netbook Reviews, rumors
a

Netbooks will be around at least for a while, thanks to huge numbers on Cyber Monday. PC World is reporting that the mini-notebooks are selling like hotcakes. And overall, Cyber Monday was more of a success than last year, with ZD Net reporting a 46 percent increase in online shopping yesterday With all this fuss over being green, Easy Energy has one-uped everyone and released they are working on a human powered laptop.
Hey Gang, I hope you all had a good Thanksgiving, or a nice Thursday if you don’t celebrate the holiday. I’m back today with a new hack and some laptop news from around the globe. The hack today is for all you Mac fans out there. This video will teach you how to use the iPhone as a wireless router anywhere you go. A great tip and excellent hack. You need an iPhone and it has to be hacked, or “jailbraked,” to run some of the software. As for the news around the net, everyone is out shopping today. And with so many great laptop deals out there, combined with a push for netbooks, I’m curious to see if laptops make big sales today. Smaller newspapers are covering Black Friday, with Best Buy getting most the coverage for its deals. PC World is reporting that analysts are predicting that mobile data will continue to be the next big movement in technology, with much of Europe already gearing up for the change. Just like me, cNet is wondering about the netbook’s future, and if the recent decision by AMD to stay away will force Intel to go all in or go … Continue reading →
a

Adding 3G can have a lot of benefits, and pretty much every netbook should be thinking about how to access the 3G network.
Sad day! It’s official, Apple has added a new form of copy protection to it’s MacBooks. That means no fun TV nights for most everyone. Sorry gang. Looks like Apple users and copyright advocates are getting up and saying something, more news as that all unfolds. It seems this whole XO laptop craze isn’t ending anytime soon. Oh, that’s not a bad thing, wither. It was announced today that NFL QB Tom Brady will be buying 1,500 of the little netbooks, which he will send off to Uganda. Excellent move Tommy Boy. Dude! Bad news for Dell. The computer giant posted a 5% drop in net income and a 3% decline in revenue for its fiscal third quarter, the WSJ reported. Looks like the once mighty supplier of all notebooks will need to do a little rebranding and mix up the market a little bit if they want to keep doing what they’re doing. Today’s How To is relatively simple, but it may not be something a lot of you laptop lovers might have tried. Today, you will learn how to use an XBox 360 to stream media from a laptop.
A few days back, the Laptop Pimp took a look at the HP Mini 1000 and he was pretty interested in the little netbook from HP. But, will the Vivienne Tam Edition of the Mini 1000 make the cut? Let’s find out. When it comes down to Specs, you are looking at the exact same computer as the normal Mini 100. The $150 price difference between the two machines is a matter of the case. This makes sense, seeing that Tam is a fashion designer, and this edition of the Mini has a beautiful red case with a flower detail. But the Pimp wants to know something. Do people buy it? Is a case worth $150? I mean, the Mini is a slick looking computer to begin with, and the red case is wonderful. But I’m not sure it’s worth the cash. If you are spending money on a netbook, you want a simple computer at a good price. The HP Mini’s $400 price point is perfect, offering a great XP-based system for a price far lower than a number of other netbooks. But, the Tam edition just adds cost for a product you want to be inexpensive to begin … Continue reading →
a

Available for about $484, teh Na01 mini can’t print your photos, but it can display them on a 10.2″ display. Just what we needed, another netbook. I won’t get too much into the specifics, as I doubt too many of the LaptopPimp readers are going to rush out to Japan and pick one of these up. But, just in case, here are the specs: Operating System: Windows XP Processor: Atom N270 Processor Speed: 1.6 GHz RAM: 1 GB Weight: 2.83 lbs. Display Size: 10.2″ Graphics: n/a Storage Capacity: 160 GB Networking Options: 802.11b/g Primary Optical Drive: external Every tech blog on the net has something on this little guy, must be a slow day: Engadget, Slash Gear, Boing Boing.
Best of the Net: Alexander Wolf wonders why anyone wants a new laptop: [U]nless you covet a new MacBook, you’re not crossing your fingers in hopes of finding a shiny new notebook computer under the tree. Smartphones, netbooks, and digital SLRs, definitely. But laptops? Yawn! Dan Costa wonders if Netbooks are the new notebooks: But can the netbook replace the notebook? Here at PC Magazine, we learn by doing, so I hit the road with netbook in tow. cNet names Sony’s 18″ laptop it’s home movie favorite: [I]magine our pleasant surprise to find the Vaio AW125 to be less expensive than the other 18-inch, Blu-ray equipped laptops we’ve seen. John Morris looks at Best Buy’s newest marketing ploy: According to Best Buy customers are looking for a decent-size display in a thin and lightweight laptop, a backlit keyboard and a standard two-year warranty. Otherwise, it’s a pretty slow day out there in notebook world. Send me your news tips and hacks if you have them. I always love to post user ideas! a alexander wolf, backlit keyboard, best buy, laptop, Laptop News, laptops, macbook, Netbook Reviews, notebook computer, notebooks, pc magazine, roundup
a

Miniature laptops have a future. As schools move toward more computer work and WiFi clouds expand, the need for tiny notebooks at affordable prices will only grow. I guess that’s where netbooks like Acer’s Asprie One come in. Weighing in at 2.1 pounds and sporting a small 8.9 inch frame, the Aspire One is a great ultra portable at a ultra-affordable $350. (Or less, depending.) With a set of solid specs, the Aspire One offers internet usability and basic computing on its Linux operating system. Unfortunately, such a small system comes with some setbacks, including a smaller typing space. Also, the Linux system makes it hard to install new apps. However, despite some of the technical and design drawbacks, both PC Magazine and Laptop Magazine have said good things about the cheap, little Acer. Check out the specs, taking in mind, you get what you pay for: Operating System: Linpus Linux Lite Processor: Intel Atom N270 Processor Speed: 1.6 GHz RAM: 512 MB Weight: 2.1 lbs Display Size: 8.6 inches Graphics: Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950 Storage Capacity: 8 GB Networking Options: 802.11 a/g Primary Optical Drive: External Check out more about the Aspire One at Acer’s website. a 8.9" … Continue reading →
a

My favorite laptop magazine, LaptopMag.com has a great hands-on review of Windows 7 on a Laptop: While our operating system is described as a pre-beta, everything seems very solid. We used the system for hours without a crash or a blue screen of death in sight. We didn’t install many apps, but those we did—Adobe Reader, Firefox, CamStudio, and GIMP—all ran flawlessly. If this is the pre-beta, we can’t wait to see the beta. I think Windows 7 is actually geared towards laptops and netbooks with less memory power. This is great news for all you laptop whores, as we will finally have the “lean and mean” version of Windows Vista. Of course, you can also read the full review of WIndows 7 operating system in general on our brother blog Zedomax.com. a adobe reader, blue screen of death, brother, camstudio, crash, gimp, great news, laptop magazine, Laptop News, Laptop Rumors, memory power, Netbook Reviews, notebook, operating system, whores
a

HP has “hinted” consumers about their new HP Mini 1000, supposedly 2.25lbs and less than 1″ thin, rivaling other great netbooks. Although there’s no full specs on this little beast yet, the following is for sure: Starting price of $399 Weight begins at 2.25 pounds, which is a little less than the HP Mini-note Under 1-inch in thickness Like the Acer Aspire One, the left and right mouse betters truly are left and right… of the trackpad. The large screen bezel of the 8.9-inch Mini-note is gone; we’re guessing a 10-inch display What do we think? It looks pretty good for $399.99, much better than HP 2133 Mini-note. I’d keep refreshing HP’s e-store until you can order one. (That’s my advice for now but HP Mini 1000 looks promising for shezzy) source a acer, betters, bezel, consumers, e store, hp, HP Laptops, Laptop News, Laptop Reviews, Laptop Rumors, little beast, mini 1000, Netbook Reviews, Netbook Reviews, trackpad
a

Here’s another netbook from Mouse Computer. I haven’t heard of Mouse Computer before, I think it’s a Japanese company that sells laptops only in Japan. Anyways, it looks like a carbon-copy of the ASUS Eee PC. Mouse Computer just informed us of the October release of their new Netbook. The G1000 will feature 10.2-Inch LCD screen with WSVGA resolution (1024×600), an Intel Atom N270 (1.6GHz), 1GB of RAM, 160GB of SATA HDD, multi card reader (SD / Memorystick / MemoryStick Pro / Multimedia Card), Wi-Fi b/g, three USB ports, and a 1.3Mpix Webcamera. It comes with a 6 cell battery, weighs 1.4kg, measures 259x180x35mm and runs on Windows XP Home Edition SP3. We don’t have a price at the moment, but we expect the same price as currently released Netbooks. via akihabaranews a 10.2" Netbooks, asus eee pc, atom, carbon copy, card reader, cell battery, g1000, inch lcd screen, japanese company, Laptop News, Laptop Rumors, Laptop Specs, laptops, memorystick pro, mouse computer, multimedia card, netbook, Netbook Reviews, Netbook Reviews, pc mouse, pro multimedia, usb ports, windows xp, windows xp home, windows xp home edition
a

Toshiba will be launching their first line of netbooks in the U.K., will they be able to be touted as Eee PC Killers? I think not as ASUS already has gone way too far ahead of everyone else. There’s no word on detailed specs yet but we will keep you updated. The 8.9n screen comes in at 1024×600, making some netbooks look weedy by comparison. You’ll be able to use it to make video calls thanks to the 0.3MP webcam and get online with either Wi-Fi or Ethernet. via stuff a 10.2" Netbooks, 3mp, 9n, killers, Laptop News, Laptop Rumors, Netbook Reviews, Netbook Reviews, pc killer, toshiba, Toshiba Laptop, webcam, wi fi
a
