The message board and forums have been alive with claims that Ubuntu is now part of Microsoft or is it the other way around! Anyway, whatever the current situation between the software giant Microsoft and Ubuntu the computer maker Dell certainly believe that is the case, check out the image below: The specifications show that the 8 Gb SSD model has under the heading “Microsoft Operating System” the word “Ubuntu” appears, this is what has set the ball in motion. However, obviously Dell has now got wind of it because it just says “Operating System” now!
The HP Mini 5101 is the replacement model of the HP Mini 2140; the 5101 will be launched towards the end of July. There is a 2.0MP webcam instead of the standard 0.3 or 1.3MP camera A choice of a 10.1 inch, 1024 x 600 pixel glossy display or a higher resolution 10.1 inch 1366 x 768 pixel display. Like the HP Mini 2140, the Mini 5101 will include an accelerometer, which shuts off the hard drive in the event of a fall, a spill-resistant keyboard, and HP’s durakey finish on the keyboard. Includes 802.11a/b/g/n Wi-Fi and an optional Gobi EV-DO/HSPA module. Comes with Windows XP Home, XP Pro, Vista Home Basic, Vista Business, or SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop 11.
Its official the Dell has finally laid the nine inch netbook to rest, this should not come as much surprise, we expected it to happen sooner or later, but as with many things we knew it was coming but it is still a shame when the hammer finally falls down on something that has been loved by so many people. So the logical replacement is the Dell Mini 10v, these feature similar specs like the Intel Atom N270 1.6 GHz processor and a choice of operating system or maybe there will be a new nine inch netbook coming out in the future.
Sometimes you cannot go on the numeric values that manufacturers put onto the models, like the Mini 110 from HP; this is supposed to be replacing the HP Mini 1000! Therefore, there are some light changes in size and looks, but if there is so little to choose from what exactly are the main difference between the two models? The differences between two models: Thicker and heavier. No more glare. It’s got a matte screen now. No awfully slow or small storage (1.8″ PATA) this time. There is a standard 2.5″ SATA drive in there with a 160GB HDD. Now with VGA port. No need for a dongle. No Edge-to-edge display (glass that covers both the screen and bezel) Comes in three colors (white, black and pink) Speaker no longer in the hinge. Same position, but further below at the bottom. Chassis feels a little cheaper than on the Mini 1000 (cheaper material). Three USB ports instead of two on the HP Mini 1000. Includes a VGA port unlike the HP Mini 1000. Touchpad lock button is no longer there. There is some new software, which allows you to sync stuff to other computers. Comes with a 3/6-cell Lithium-Ion battery … Continue reading →
a

The TV tuner looks to offer some good quality pictures, although it must be noted, that this accessory will not be available for the Dell Mini 10v. We do not know the reasons why as of yet but it is probably down the eco friendly nature of computer. The cost of the TV Tuner is set to be around $50.
There are quite few offers on mini laptops around these days and Dell are right up there getting the deals out. Like this one for the Dell Mini 10 evolution model 1011, this is being offered at an amazing $299. The 10v as it is also known as is a replacement for the z series Atom, although it still offers the buyer 120 Gb hard disk, 1 Gb memory, Windows XP and the 1.3 mega pixel web cam. Yet this offer means that it is around $100 cheaper than the basic Mini 10 there simply cannot be anything wrong with that, can there? Source [Portable Monkey] a $299, 10" Netbooks, dell, Dell Laptops, mini, offer
a
