Like the introduction of Intel Core 2 Duo 2GHz and 1,066MHz system bus and a minimum integrated RAM to 2GB. Yet this may have been done on quiet, but the calculators have been out too, because there has been a slight increase in price, the new plastic MacBook by Apple will have a price tag of around $1,000. Source [Tech Fresh] a Apple Laptops, apple updates, intel core 2, intel core 2 duo, macbook, MacBooks, nvidia, price tag
a

We talk about netbooks a lot here on LaptopPimp, and we also tend to wonder about the future of Mac and the netbook market. Well, MacWorld got around to wondering the same things and they posted a large article about how the Asus Eee PC holds up against a MacBook. Here’s some of the highlights: Size: My first impression—and one that’s endured—is that the 1000HA is small. Smaller, in fact, than any laptop I’ve ever owned. So it was complete culture shock to suddenly find myself with a laptop computer with a downsized keyboard (Asus claims it’s about 92 percent the size of a “full” laptop keyboard, but it definitely is markedly smaller than what I’m used to) and overall dimensions so small that I have trouble balancing it on my lap without having it fall through my legs. The keyboard does have nubs on the home row keys, which makes touch-typing possible. The unusual and somewhat cramped keyboard layout (cursor keys jammed into an area to the left of the right shift key) took me about a day to get used to. No OSX: The operating system running on the Eee PC is likely to be the biggest Achilles’ … Continue reading →
a

Well, you don’t need to spend a bundle on a new machine, as the old MacBooks can offer the same functionality with one simple hack. Breaking out in the MacRumors forum, this little tip is just too good to pass up. It will take some time, patience and the desire to reinstall your entire system. Plus, you’ll need access to a new Mac’s install disc. But, if you’re willing you can make a four-finger trackpad without installing new hardware. Click the above link to be taken to the forum and to see the step-by-step.
The rumor mill is churning over a Ars Technia post claiming that the new aluminum MacBooks will be using HDCP copy protection. According to the Ars folks: When my friend John, a high school teacher, attempted to play Hellboy 2 on his classroom’s projector with a new aluminum MacBook over lunch, he was denied by the error you see above. John’s using a Mini DisplayPort-to-VGA adapter, plugged into a Sanyo projector that is part of his room’s Promethean system. Strangely, only some iTunes Store movies appear to be HDCP-aware, as other purchased media like Stargate: Continuum and Heroes season 2 play through the projector just fine. Attempts to play Hellboy 2 or other HDCPed films through the projector via QuickTime also get denied. Other movies that don’t work include newer films like Iron Man, Star Wars: Clone Wars, and Love Guru, but older films like Shawshank Redemption are restricted as well. Looks like Apple DRM is getting in the way of justifiable fair use once again. While I love my Mac, sometimes Apple makes the little guy get in my way more than help. What do you guys think about this DRM hurdle? a drm, Mac Rumors, macbook, MacBooks
a

Smartphones, netbooks, and digital SLRs, definitely. But laptops? Yawn! Dan Costa wonders if Netbooks are the new notebooks: But can the netbook replace the notebook? Here at PC Magazine, we learn by doing, so I hit the road with netbook in tow. cNet names Sony’s 18″ laptop it’s home movie favorite: [I]magine our pleasant surprise to find the Vaio AW125 to be less expensive than the other 18-inch, Blu-ray equipped laptops we’ve seen. John Morris looks at Best Buy’s newest marketing ploy: According to Best Buy customers are looking for a decent-size display in a thin and lightweight laptop, a backlit keyboard and a standard two-year warranty. Otherwise, it’s a pretty slow day out there in notebook world. Send me your news tips and hacks if you have them.
The folks over at Gizmodo have posted on this interesting and, absolutely illegal, new MacBook Nano. That’s right, it’s not a apple product, but it sure looks like one. I’m sure these won’t be on the market long at all, not if Steve Jobs has anything to say about it. The MSI U100 MacBook Nano is a lovely little knock off, with a great Mac design and a lot of good specs packed in to the case. Don;t ask wher to buy one, though. Because I have no idea where to find a black market Mac. The black market, I suppose. The photos and specs come from a Flickr account, and you can see the whole spread at Mickphoto’s page. Apparently, this fake machine comes in wither black or white to keep with Apple’s standards. (ha ha) The laptop comes loaded with both Windows XP and OSX Lepoard. (Even fakers dont like Vista.) So, while you are waiting for the new, real MacBook nano, check out the fake one for a while. Please let me know what you think about this box in hte comments. I have a feeling Mac addicts will scream “faker,” while PC lovers might like to … Continue reading →
a

This is a neat little computer. Perfect as a travel companion. Small and lightweight. I like it in white. Reminds me of my MacBook. via coolwebb a ASUS Netbooks, eee pc, Laptop News, Laptop Reviews, Laptop Video, little computer, macbook, travel companion, video review
a

Here’s a cool video of what the MacTablet would look like. Basically, it’d be your laptop/desktop all-in-one with touchscreen ability. I’ve worked with the Popular Mechanics design team to create the “MacBook Plus” computer of my dreams. It takes Apple’s current technology, interface and design language—from iPhone to the latest Mac laptops—and uses them in a totally new hardware format. I’m guessing it would be pricey at, say, $3000, but that’s only $200 more than the current top-of-the-line MacBook Pro, and I suspect Apple fanboys would cough up that kind of cash for something this slick via popularmechanics a apple, current technology, design language, dreams, fanboys, iphone, Laptop Design, Laptop News, mac laptops, Mac Rumors, Mac Rumors, macbook, MacBooks, new hardware, popular mechanics, popularmechanics, slick, technology interface, top of the line
a

If you have a MacBook and you need some serious stylish laptop cooling, you will need to get this MacBook Laptop Cooler from Zefyr. at the core of zefyr’s design is a high-thermal conduction interface compound, which enhances heat dissipation by providing a direct heat conduction path between macbook’s bottom casing and zefyr’s cast aluminum heat sink assembly. the thermal interface compound is soft and compressive to ensure decent contact while preventing abrasive scratches to your macbook. heat accumulated in the heat sink is then expelled through the sides by a high-efficiency usb-powered fan that runs near silent. via gizmodo a aluminum heat sink, casing, cast aluminum, heat conduction, heat dissipation, high efficiency, Laptop Accessories, laptop cooler, laptop cooler, laptop cooling, Laptop Mat, Laptop News, laptop pimp, macbook, macbook cooler, macbook laptop cooler, macbook laptop mat, MacBooks, scratches, thermal conduction, thermal interface
a
