Acer Android next month

At the Computex 2009 there was an Acer display showing the proposed Acer and Android OS combination, initially it was announced that the would be a working model of the Acer Aspire One D250 with the Android Operating System in August, but that is in a couple of weeks time!

Google OS for netbooks

This has been coming for some time now, Google have been creeping around the software sector for some time, with apps giving users the opportunity to use email, browser and now an operating system that has been designed for netbooks. The way that Google see it is that most netbooks are using Windows XP; this has been around for eight years or so and has been designed to work with Pentium III and IV processors. Whereas today’s netbooks are using x86 and ARM chips, Chrome OS has been designed to work with these.

Dell to introduce GPS in the Mini 10

As from next week, the Dell Mini 10 will have the option for GPS, this helps in two ways. The first is that if the computer is stolen and the thieves do not disable the device, it can be tracked. The second and a bit more like big brother is that companies who issue these computers to travelling staff will be able to see where they are.

Netbooks could be free

The time may have come when netbooks are given away for free by the mobile carriers, according to the Head of a Linux advocacy group, the Linux foundation. He was speaking at a Beijing forum of prominent Chinese business people.

Many companies such as AT&T already sell subsidised 3G netbooks in the US and in fact the same is beginning to happen in China, but to actually give a netbook away in the similar manner

Asus offers Windows 7 upgrade

The mini laptop specialist from Taiwan, Asus have just announced that they will be participating in the Windows 7 upgrade scheme. This is where they are able to sell current computers with a Microsoft operating system.

This is great news for buyers who can go ahead and get a new computer armed with the knowledge that they can upgrade to the new operating system when it is released in October.

ASRock bringing out ION laptop
