One of ASUS’s newest Eee PC 1000HD is probably a great choice for anyone who doesn’t mind its Linux operating system. Of course, as for me, I rather have a Windows XP and install Linux afterwards if I feel like it. Of course, another side to this story is that the 1000HD has an Intel Celeron M processor versus an Intel Atom N270 processor. (which I prefer. Celerons have proven to be slow in the past.) The other better half of Eee PC 1000HD is the 1000HA, which we will be reviewing next. Before that, you can absorb all the specs and raves about the Eee PC 1000HD here: Operating system: Linux Internal memory: 80 GB hard disk drive (HDD) RAM: 1 GB DDR2 Processor: 900 MHz Intel Celeron M 353 Memory expansion: Slot for MMC/SD(SDHC) cards Screen: 10 inches, 1024 x 600 pixels, LED backlight Networking: Draft-N Wi-Fi (802.11b/g/n), 10/100 Fast Ethernet Bluetooth connectivity: Yes Peripheral connectivity: Three USB 2.0 External video: One VGA External audio: One headphone and one microphone port Webcamera: Yes, 1.3 megapixels Battery: 6 cells (6600 mAh), up to 4.6 hours Weight: 3.19 pounds (51 ounces) Dimensions: 10.5 × 7.5 × 1.5 inches UPDATE: Eee … Continue reading →
a

Just in case you were wondering, the new Intel 80GB Solid State Drives are super fast and are coming very soon to your new mini-notebook. Here’s the Press Release: Intel Introduces Solid-State Drives for Notebook and Desktop Computers New Intel(R) High-Performance SATA Solid-State Drive Offers Users Responsive, Rugged, Reliable and Low-Power Storage Solution to Replace Hard Disk Drive SANTA CLARA, Calif. —(Business Wire)— Sep. 8, 2008 Intel Corporation announced today it has begun shipping Intel(R) X18-M and X25-M Mainstream SATA Solid-State Drives (SSDs) based on multi-level cell (MLC) NAND flash technology for laptop and desktop computers. The new high-performing data storage devices give computer buyers a new level of system responsiveness in a lightweight, rugged, low-power package that can replace traditional hard disk drives. Validated for Intel-based computers, the X18-M is a 1.8-inch drive and the X25-M a 2.5-inch drive, offering several advantages over hard drives including faster overall system response, boot and resume times. With no moving parts, SSDs run cooler and quieter and are a more reliable option than hard drives. In addition, SSDs remove input/output (I/O) performance bottlenecks associated with hard disk drives that help maximize the efficiency of Intel processors, such as the company’s Core(TM) family … Continue reading →
a
