It looks like ASUS is working on the high-end Eee PC versions, currently dubbed, “ASUS S101″.

I really like this concept as I feel that ASUS Eee PCs weren’t going to satisfy my high-power requirements for mobile computing.

According to CNET Crave Taiwan and HKEPC, Asus is preparing a high-end version of Eee PC that features 64GB SSD. The new laptop will named as the S101 and the Eee PC brand will be dropped to reflect the higher price tag of $899 USD.

It looks like someone is trying to convert an Eee PC into an E-book reader.  Fabulous!

Eee PC mods are already nearly as plentiful as actual Eee PC variations these days, and it looks like you can now add one more fairly ambitious one to the mix, with Australian modder Bismar aiming to turn the humble netbook into an e-book reader that he’s dubbed the Tabeee MK 1.

Asus is coming out with another Eee PC, Eec PC 904 very soon…

To hit this price point there are other differences. For instance, you won’t find an Intel Atom inside. Instead, the 900MHz Celeron M used in the 900 will power the 904 and be backed by 1024MB of memory. As with the 1000, you’ll find an 80GB laptop hard drive in there and it will ship with Windows XP as standard. Asus is claiming a weight of 1.4kg.

GeCube’s 10.2″ could be Eee PC’s competitor???

Or maybe not…

Inside said system is going to reside a VIA C7-D processor running at 1.6GHz (so not the new Nano but newer models probably will), Internal 64KB – L1 & 128KB – L2 cache memory and 400MHz FSB. It will be outfitted with DDR2 533 512 MB RAM with an additional single SODIMM slot expansion to 1024MB if required.

Asus working on Touchscreen Eee PC, possibly Multi-touch

With the popularity of Asus Eec PC rising, Asus has just hinted that they might possibly looking at a touchscreen model of Asus Eec PC laptops.

Editors at Laptop Pimp predict that these new touchscreen laptops could possible come with multi-touch technology.

Asus Australia national retail manager, Emmanuele Silanesu, said the company’s Eee PC division was “obviously looking at other form factors rather than just a clamshell”.

Eee PC helps Asustek become sixth largest PC vendor!

This is definite proof that mini-laptops or UMPC are the future of laptops.

Asustek Computer shipped around 1.4 million notebooks in the first quarter of 2008 and ranked number eight in terms of market share. However, if Eee PC shipments of around 700,000 units are included, the company’s shipments jump to 2.1 million units, surpassing those of Fujitsu and Apple, to rank in sixth place, and closely trailing behind Lenovo who shipped 2.2-2.3 million units, according to a recent report from IDC.
