Dell’s new Vostro V131 is probably one of the best business laptops out there. Starting at $499, the V131 packs a 13.3-inch screen, coupled with an option of Intel’s new Sandy Bridge Core i5 processors or Celeron. Our recommendation is to take advantage of the Intel Core i5 processor coupled with an SSD hard drive, which can give you near 10 hours of battery life on normal usage plus you will get all the benefits of fast i5 speeds plus the additional I/O speeds with SSD. (Yup, that’s our dream setup for this V131 laptop.) You have a choice of 256GB SSD or 750GB regular hard disk and again, you should opt for the SSD as your boot-up times will be much faster nevermind blazing-speed on disk-intensive apps like Photoshop or MS Word. Currently, Dell’s site only lists for Intel Core i3-2310M 2.1Ghz processor and option for SATA drive but the better/latter option should be available later this year. Other than that, you do also have option to get mobile broadbrand from AT&T, Sprint, or Verizon. Again, Dell currently only lists 3G mobile broadband options but 4G LTE option should be coming later. With the current setup with the i3 … Continue reading →
a

Dell re-introduces their Inspiron 13z and 14z laptops, which have been slimmed down to 1-inch thickness and aluminum back with additional metal finish near the touchpad. I think this is a great move for a $600 laptop as it makes the laptop sleeker and more usable from portability standpoint. One more thing I would like to see improved? If Dell could just cut out the optical DVD drive, which most of us don’t need anyways and slim the laptop to near 3/4 of an inch, it would make the 13z and 14z much lighter plus the battery would last longer. For people who absolutely need a DVD, Dell can offer an external option. And yes, having a Dell-supported DVD-burning (into ISO) software could also help alleviate those users who need to watch movies contantly. It’s a great laptop and I would recommend it, I personally just detest the bulky DVD slot. via engadget a aluminum, dell, HP Laptops, inspiron 13z, inspiron 14z
a

It seems that the much awaited for ten inch tablet from Dell is likely to be launched at some point during the fall if this year, possibly as early as September, this will be complimented by the release of an eight inch version of the tablet early in 2012! This is great news for fans of the Dell Streak, but who are looking to get their hands on something more in line with the iPad2. Currently the Dell Streak five and seven inch tablets are running the Google Android 2.2 operating system and there is no reason as to why this should not continue with the new model.
An eighteen inch laptop from Alienware would be something and although there is some evidence that Dell could be thinking about producing such an addition to the Alienware range of computers, according to the firm, they are not. Therefore, the evidence is that on the image below the model number M18x turned up, this would naturally mean that the firm have a model number and therefore must have a plan for the machine. However clicking on the link takes you to the page designated for the M17x laptop, so if you sneakily swap the seven with an eight in the URL and press enter, where does this take you? To a 404 Page Not Found. Very frustrating and exciting for a few minutes, at least, so come on Dell is there an Alienware M18x in the pipeline.
The warning signs were there for all to see when in December last year, Dell cut the price of the super slim Adamo laptop to just $899 despite having a $1,999 price at its launch in 2009. However, this must have been just a way of clearing the company stock. This luxury laptop started off well but soon other factors came into play and the Adamo was struggling, the luxury market had changed and Dell have to adapt, so the Adamo will be no more, it seems that there is a chance of picking up a bargain here too, as Dell attempt to clear it stock of Adamo’s. These are the details for the about to be discontinued Dell Adamo slim laptop; At only 0.65 inch thick this machine offers a 13.4 inch WLED display 1366 x 768 resolution, 2.1 GHz Core 2 Duo SL9600 processor, a 64-bit version of Windows 7 Home Premium operating system, 4 GB of DDR3-800 memory, comes with 128 GB SSD, 802.11n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.1+ EDR and a 40 WHr Lithium Polymer battery.
Dell have been busy showing off their new range of products at a press event, one interesting item that popped up is a ten inch tablet, it seems that this device is likely to be running the Android operating system. It was not made too clear, but does look like there will be a Windows version too, whether these are one of the same is yet to be announced. This is what Dell had to say about the plans for a ten inch tablet in a press release; Additionally, Dell plans to extend its existing tablet portfolio with a 10-inch, Windows 7-based business-ready tablet later this year. The upcoming tablet is designed for end-users who need greater mobility, as well as IT organizations that demand control, security, manageability and integration with existing infrastructure investments. Dell’s tablet will empower a more mobile workforce in a way that offers customers the business applications and corporate data they need, while meeting regulatory mandates and IT requirements.
There has been a lot of things said about the Dell TV tuner for the Inspiron Mini 10, but these mainly revolved around the fact the device was shipped without the antennas, that was unhelpful for the users and not this problem has been resolved it is time to see what all the fuss has been about. The tuner is actually already fitted inside the machine the aerial plugs into the side and boosts the signal. It seems that without the aerial in New York the device picked up twenty two channels, but this is New York and if can’t get signal there you can’t get it anywhere! The devices seem to rely on being close to the broadcast towers, the closer the better or within clear sight of one at least. Source [Liliputing] a channels, dell, LCD Resolution, mini 10, Netbook News, picture, tested, tuner, tv, TV Tuners
a

This would have been ordered when they purchased a Dell Mini 10. However, when they arrived with the antennas missing. Well finally, one of the first complainers has finally received their TV Tuner from Dell. That must be a great thing to experience, watching digital TV on you Dell Mini 10, in the car, at work and even in the garden.
Anyone who ordered the famous Dell TV Tuner, the external model may have noticed that the antenna part did not come with the device, which some people may have notice because of the lack of TV picture. Fortunately Dell have held their hands up to this one and have sent out an email to their customers, in this email they explain that they will be sending the item out in the post, unfortunately they failed to say when the antenna would be sent out.
As from next week, the Dell Mini 10 will have the option for GPS, this helps in two ways. The first is that if the computer is stolen and the thieves do not disable the device, it can be tracked. The second and a bit more like big brother is that companies who issue these computers to travelling staff will be able to see where they are. The hardware consists of a Broadcom A GPS card with built in Skyhook Wi-Fi locationing system, this operates indoors as well as outside. There is also Loki, which can generate 2D, and 3D map views of the location. There is no mention of cost yet, but it is available from next week in the US, with other regions following in the future.
At an event in Paris two old guys from Dell HQ, namely Phil Bryant and Michael Tatelman give the people want they wanted by showing all be it in a flash two unknown and therefore un-named mini laptops. Naturally, this sets all of the wheels of suspicion into action and they all seem to be coming with that this is the 11″ version of the Dell mini but this time with the 11.6″ inch display, but as this is an unnamed and unknown device, which we are going to have to wait and see what it is.
