Check out this incredible Dell Mini 9 that someone hacked into a mini tablet! Brilliant! If you know a little bit about disassembling laptops and hardware, this might be a doable project for you. The base model is a Dell Vostro A90 (bluetooth, .3mp webcam, 1GB RAM, upgraded 16GB SSD). The touchscreen is the Hoda Technology solderless touchscreen kit. I started this project back in June, and it was 80% complete then. I took a break for a few months then finally started filling in the gaps in the frame with plastic epoxy. It took me another few weeks to come up with a way to mount the power switch and the covers for where the hinges were. It is fully complete and functional now, though I will probably go ahead and paint/primer the body filler and paint the powerswitch silver from its current green color. I also am looking into adding an accelerometer to automatically rotate the screen, similar to an iphone. via hackaday a accelerometer, dell mini 9, dell mini hack, dell vostro, diy, Laptop DIY, Laptop Hack, laptops
a

Hey gang, I know you might be tired of hearing about Christmas ideas, but with netbooks more popular than ever and an economic squeeze on most people’s wallets this Christmas, it’s the perfect time to talk about why the under $500 laptops make a great gift idea. cNet has their top picks for laptop gifts out, and as you can see, netbooks are all the rage. The Dell Mini 9 is their top pick for a netbook, and with a recent price drop, it’s mine too. Although, I do also like the HP Mini 10. For medium to full-sized laptops, the cNet crew picked the Gateway T-6838, which is a little surprising to me, but I’ll let them explain: a christmas, dell mini 9, gateway t-6838, hp mini 10, Laptop Reviews, Netbook Reviews
a

cNet has an interesting article on laptops and how c=some machines are very specific. So, you might need two. More is always better. According to Computer World, Acer has out performed Asus in the netbook market, showing that the new market can make way for some little names to become big ones. Wired doesn’t care how hot the netbook market is, they don’t think Apple will make a $99 power play. And cNet has the lead on a hot deal, a Dell Mini 9 netbook for $299. a acer, apple, asus, dell mini 9, Laptop News, Netbook Reviews
a
