Dell Beefs Up the M4600 and the M6600 laptops

The M4600 15.6 inch and the M6600 17.3 inch laptops are both fitted with Intel’s latest second-generation Core processors, as well as the Nvidia Quadro and AMD FirePro graphics cards and the 1080p IPS displays. However, these are tough machines with an aluminium and magnesium alloy casing built to meet the MIL-STD 810G specifications for extreme temperatures, vibration, dust, altitude and shock. Dell to introduce GPS in the Mini 10

As from next week, the Dell Mini 10 will have the option for GPS, this helps in two ways. The first is that if the computer is stolen and the thieves do not disable the device, it can be tracked. The second and a bit more like big brother is that companies who issue these computers to travelling staff will be able to see where they are. The hardware consists of a Broadcom A GPS card with built in Skyhook Wi-Fi locationing system, this operates indoors as well as outside. There is also Loki, which can generate 2D, and 3D map views of the location. There is no mention of cost yet, but it is available from next week in the US, with other regions following in the future. As promised, today I’d like you to meet the Dell Studio 15 laptop, the latest offering from Dell. Jumping on the color bandwagon roughly half a decade years after Mac started the whole trend, Dell’s colorful lineup of Studio machines are nice to look at, but do they have the specs to stand up against the MacBook and all the great home media center options from otehr PC makers like Samsung? Well, let’s take a look. Starting between $599 and $849, the bare-bones system won’t quite cut it. For starters, the low end Studio 15′s ship with 6-cell batteries, and these days the demand for power makes me want to start with a 9-cell battery right off the bat. Plus, the 2 GHz processor speed is worth the couple hundred dollars.
