There cannot be many people around who have not heard of the problems that Dell customers are having with the Dell TV Tuner. This would have been ordered when they purchased a Dell Mini 10. However, when they arrived with the antennas missing. Well finally, one of the first complainers has finally received their TV Tuner from Dell. That must be a great thing to experience, watching digital TV on you Dell Mini 10, in the car, at work and even in the garden. Unfortunately, for this Dell customer there will be no TV as he must have failed to check the TV coverage before and is unable to view any channels at all, so much for complaining.
The message board and forums have been alive with claims that Ubuntu is now part of Microsoft or is it the other way around! Anyway, whatever the current situation between the software giant Microsoft and Ubuntu the computer maker Dell certainly believe that is the case, check out the image below: The specifications show that the 8 Gb SSD model has under the heading “Microsoft Operating System” the word “Ubuntu” appears, this is what has set the ball in motion.
As from next week, the Dell Mini 10 will have the option for GPS, this helps in two ways. The first is that if the computer is stolen and the thieves do not disable the device, it can be tracked. The second and a bit more like big brother is that companies who issue these computers to travelling staff will be able to see where they are. The hardware consists of a Broadcom A GPS card with built in Skyhook Wi-Fi locationing system, this operates indoors as well as outside. There is also Loki, which can generate 2D, and 3D map views of the location. There is no mention of cost yet, but it is available from next week in the US, with other regions following in the future.
Its official the Dell has finally laid the nine inch netbook to rest, this should not come as much surprise, we expected it to happen sooner or later, but as with many things we knew it was coming but it is still a shame when the hammer finally falls down on something that has been loved by so many people. So the logical replacement is the Dell Mini 10v, these feature similar specs like the Intel Atom N270 1.6 GHz processor and a choice of operating system or maybe there will be a new nine inch netbook coming out in the future.
Dell has begun shipping the new Mini 10v model companion mini laptop; this computer will be the first Dell machine to offer the user the choice of using either Windows XP or Linux operating system. So that can help user decide between the two or maybe it will be just too much for users to stomach, but this is going to be the way forward with Dell and so we should all get used to it. This is an interesting concept but is it going to make users lives more complicated when they to between which operating system to use and then if they then decide to change operating systems, it is a good idea for experience computer users, but for the un-experienced, it could be nightmare, for everyone else it is a cool idea.
This is what everyone has been waiting for, not the Dell Mini 10 although it is a great machine it is the accessories that we are interested in this time and in particular the soon to be released digital TV tuner, which is a great idea for users who love the TV. The TV tuner looks to offer some good quality pictures, although it must be noted, that this accessory will not be available for the Dell Mini 10v. We do not know the reasons why as of yet but it is probably down the eco friendly nature of computer. The cost of the TV Tuner is set to be around $50.
A computer maker has finally understood that women are computer buyers too and as such have built in a women’s section with their website. Dell have always been there at the cutting edge but by launching Della they have opened up a whole new section of the market place that has been until now pushed to the side. Maybe computer makers have not been discriminating against women; in fact, by launching Della they may have set precedence where they will need to cater for other groups such as children, older people and so on the list could be endless.
This time last year the only solid state drive (SSD) that you could get from Dell was a 64 Gb version, but a year on things have changed dramatically within this sector of the industry, which has opened up new frontiers for the company. Yet this technology will not come cheap, anyone interesting in adding the 256 Gb SSD to their Dell XPS configuration will have to pay an additional $400, which is always the way, this time next year things may well be completely different. Source [Cnet] a Dell Laptops, Dell Laptops, dell xps, gb version, solid state drive, SSD
a

As promised, today I’d like you to meet the Dell Studio 15 laptop, the latest offering from Dell. Jumping on the color bandwagon roughly half a decade years after Mac started the whole trend, Dell’s colorful lineup of Studio machines are nice to look at, but do they have the specs to stand up against the MacBook and all the great home media center options from otehr PC makers like Samsung? Well, let’s take a look. Starting between $599 and $849, the bare-bones system won’t quite cut it. For starters, the low end Studio 15′s ship with 6-cell batteries, and these days the demand for power makes me want to start with a 9-cell battery right off the bat. Plus, the 2 GHz processor speed is worth the couple hundred dollars. As soon as you start to customize, you’ll learn that to add color, you’re going to need to fork out $25 for a color and $75 for a design. And while color is nice, to make users pay for it seems a little silly. If there is only one color difference, like the black or white option, I can understand it. But if you are going to offer a … Continue reading →
a
