This initially looks like the old clamshell style Apple computer, but without the bright oranges and purples! However, this is in fact an offering from HP and it has been initially called the Classmate laptop the next netbook being targeted towards the kids, the true name is not known yet. It has been on show at the Computex 2010 in Taiwan and it looks as if it has all of the makings of the cool design, which means computer users will be interested in the specs. There are not many of specs around on this so here they are: 10 inch Mini Classmate netbook, HP offering it in a variety of colours with a grey coloured chiclet keyboard and is running the SuSE Linux 11 Source [Gadgetmix] a classmate pc, hp, HP Netbooks
a

The latest version of the Classmate PC comes as a convertible tablet making it much more easier for the children to operate under classroom conditions and when the child needs to use a laptop in the conventional manner it can be easily and quickly sorted. According to the maker of the device Intel, the Classmate PC has a decent 10.1 inch display, rather than the older 8.9 inch display that is generally too small to be used at school. There are also two versions of screen resolution to choose from, the standard 1024 x 600 and the hi res 1368 x 768. The original clamshell version of the Classmate will cost around $300, for the convertible tablet version there is an additional $30 charged.
Looks like automobile manufacturer Daewoo is jumping in the kid’s laptop market with its Lukid laptop, looks very similar to the OLPC laptop. On the downside, the Lukid is going to cost around $500 USD so don’t see it selling anywhere other than Korea anytime soon. Daewoo Lucoms(www.lucoms.co.kr) launched its low-cost education-use mobile computer ‘LUKID’ for children in Korea market. Based on Intel’s Classmate PC, the LUKID is powered by Intel 900MHz Celeron processor and Windows XP OS. Adopting a 9-inch LCD display, 512MB of RAM and 30GB HDD, the LUKID supports wireless LAN, SD card slot and USB port. via aving a 30gb hdd, automobile manufacturer, aving, celeron processor, classmate pc, daewoo, downside, education, Kids Laptops, korea market, kr, laptop market, Laptop News, mobile computer, olpc laptop, sd card slot, windows xp, wireless lan
a

Intel’s Eco PC might be Intel’s challenge to EEC Pcs and all the other mini-laptops coming out. This is how the Eco PC (or the Classmate PC) is going to look. So far it’s rumored to be a 10-inch laptop with a 9-inch display that weighs a little under 3 pounds and will sell for sub-$400. It’s supposed to run on a 900MHz Celeron processors, with 512MB of RAM, a 40GB hard drive, built-in WiFi and Ethernet. It has decent specs for a $400 laptop. via devicepedia a 40gb hard drive, celeron processors, classmate pc, eco, intel, Intel Laptops, Kids Laptops, laptop, laptops, UMPC, wifi
a
