HP Launch the Classmate PC

This initially looks like the old clamshell style Apple computer, but without the bright oranges and purples! However, this is in fact an offering from HP and it has been initially called the Classmate laptop the next netbook being targeted towards the kids, the true name is not known yet.

It has been on show at the Computex 2010 in Taiwan and it looks as if it has all of the makings of the cool design, which means computer users will be interested in the specs.

Classmate PC Goes Convertible

The latest version of the Classmate PC comes as a convertible tablet making it much more easier for the children to operate under classroom conditions and when the child needs to use a laptop in the conventional manner it can be easily and quickly sorted.

According to the maker of the device Intel, the Classmate PC has a decent 10.1 inch display, rather than the older 8.9 inch display that is generally too small to be used at school. There are also two versions of screen resolution to choose from, the standard 1024 x 600 and the hi res 1368 x 768.

Daewoo’s Lukid is OLPC for Korea!

Looks like automobile manufacturer Daewoo is jumping in the kid’s laptop market with its Lukid laptop, looks very similar to the OLPC laptop.

On the downside, the Lukid is going to cost around $500 USD so don’t see it selling anywhere other than Korea anytime soon.

Intel Eco PC

Intel’s Eco PC might be Intel’s challenge to EEC Pcs and all the other mini-laptops coming out.

This is how the Eco PC (or the Classmate PC) is going to look. So far it’s rumored to be a 10-inch laptop with a 9-inch display that weighs a little under 3 pounds and will sell for sub-$400. It’s supposed to run on a 900MHz Celeron processors, with 512MB of RAM, a 40GB hard drive, built-in WiFi and Ethernet. It has decent specs for a $400 laptop.
