Tablet PC’s are a strange item, they look cool and seem to be ok for people who are doing some sort of work that requires the user to have a free hand etc, but in the real world is a tablet ever going to take the place of a desktop PC or laptop? Toshiba is launching its new 12.1-inch Dynabook SS RX2 which weight only 858 grams while a comparable ASUS Eee PC weighs at least 1500 grams. It comes to us no surprise that ASUS is testing their new Eee PC 901/1000H mini-laptops in Korea, especially with those colorful covers. While we can’t get these units in the US, you can always fly over to Korea and grab one of these units. They are approximately about $600 and $700 for the Eee PC 901 and 1000H, respectively. Looks like automobile manufacturer Daewoo is jumping in the kid’s laptop market with its Lukid laptop, looks very similar to the OLPC laptop. On the downside, the Lukid is going to cost around $500 USD so don’t see it selling anywhere other than Korea anytime soon.
