There are always plenty of rumours around over Chrome and netbooks, but this time the rumour appears to have some function behind it. The rumour is that Asus are looking to build a low priced netbook running a cheaper operating system, which would be either Android or Chrome. Generally netbooks are going to be priced at around $300, but if Asus were to pull this off it could see a netbook hitting the market with a much lower starting price, possibly even around the $200 mark and would be interesting to a wide ranging market of buyers.
Asus have let it be known that have several Google Android powered netbooks and tablets already on the way, but it seems that the firm is not letting it rest there as according to the Asus CEO Jerry Shen, the company are planning a wide range of new products for the future. It seems that we can expect to see an Android tablet with a 3D display, more tablets powered by quad-core processors, new netbooks running the MeeGo Linux and Google Android OS and even more interesting is the Windows Phone 7 devices in the works. These look like interesting times for the market and for Asus too, who have come a long way in a very short time and look like they are planning to stick around for while too!
All the talk of the demise of the netbook may have been a bit premature, shipments for this year are already looking to touch the thirty million mark. While there is a new a processor too, the Atom N570 is clocked at 1.66 GHz was seen at the CES 2011 in Las Vegas, it will replace the N550 with its 1.5 GHz. One of the machines expected to use this processor will be Lenovo, their IdeaPad S100 netbook is due out by the end of February, but others are sure to follow, especially the likes of Samsung with the NC110. However so far it seems that Asus are yet to decide what machine they are going to use first up with this processor, or are they really preparing to slow down the production of netbooks in order to concentrate on the more exciting tablet market! 2011 is going to be an exciting year.
Asus used to be good and delivery a good joke or tease but over time, the humorous side of marketing has gone by the wayside while the company concentrated on more important factors, such as producing a wide range of computing devices. However, not it seems that the fun is back and Asus are now tormenting us with this tag line, ASUS Eee PC Sirocco “Making waves” what could this be? The informed expert would say that this is going to be a new netbook, but then again it could be a mobile computing device or something else! The good thing is that we do not have to wait lone because Asus will be announcing what is behind the ASUS Eee PC Sirocco “Making waves” tag tomorrow (Wednesday) we cannot wait to see what it is.
Apart from bringing out a different model to suit the needs and demands of the buying public, netbook makers are taking a different look at their current models and in some cases are modifying them or bringing in designers to add a bit of flair to the machine. To achieve this, ASUS’ industrial designers have had to pioneer a plethora of material, production, and textural innovations, such as the combination of rubber paint, in mold roller (IMR), and metallic materials to create thoroughly unique finishes. One all that has been done the specs for the some of the more interesting Asus computers become apparent. This includes the U Series or Asus Bamboo Collection, these laptops were first seen at the CES and boast the Inter Core i5 and even has the famous USB 3.0 installed. Features of the brand new Asus U Series Bamboo Collection: •U-series: Otherwise known as ASUS’ Bamboo Collection, the U-series laptops were highlighted at CES, where we discovered they would have Core i5 CPUs and USB 3.0 support. Well, that’s not the whole story. They’ve also all got NVIDIA Optimus auto-switching graphics between an onboard Intel GMA HD and the GeForce 310M 1GB. Oh, and forget Core i5 — these machines support processors all the way up to the 2.66GHz Core i7-620M. Highlight: The U30JC, with a combo Blu-ray drive and a chiclet keyboard that won a iF Product Design Award. •UL-series: ASUS for “UnLimited,” you can read UL as “ultra low,” as in Intel’s ultra low … Continue reading →
a

The ASUS rep said this isn’t the final but a similar laptop should be available in 4-8 weeks. The full feature specs of this awesome 13.3-inch laptop include an Intel Core i7 – 640UM/620UM processor, Intel GS45 chipset, DDR3 1066Mhz memory expandable upto 4GB, 640GB hard drive. There’s no final word on what kind of battery the final production version will have but the demo model has a 5400mAh 8-cell battery. via zedomax a 13.3" Laptops, asus, ASUS Laptops, ces 2010, hands on, Laptop News, Laptop Reviews, Laptop Rumors, Laptops by Size, review, ul30jt
a

When it was first announced at the CeBIT event the Asus eBook was expected to reach the stores by Xmas, but now it seems that will not be happening as the company has refocused the launch to take place in March 2010! There are still not many details around at the moment, but what do know is that there will be two versions, a six inch and a nine inch displays using the e-Ink system, duel screen and connectivity through 3G and Wi-Fi. Stand by though because we are expecting an announcement from Asus before the end of December. Source [Liliputing] a asus, ASUS Netbooks, ebook, launch 2010, Netbook Reviews, reader
a
