A lot of mini laptops look similar in style and shape, but that does not mean that they are copies or anything, yet occasionally there comes along something that looks remarkably similar to another model and upon further inspection you realise that it is in fact a clone. Fake Acer Aspire One Spotted

Clearly, this is going to be from China, as that does seem to be the place where clones pop up every now and then. This clone is known as the T26 and it is remarkably similar to the Acer Aspire One S101. When it comes to the price, it seems that the consumer in China may be tempted with the T26!

Both the clone and the S101 have:

10.2 inch

1024 x 600 pixel display

Intel Atom N270 processors

1GB of RAM

160GB hard drives

Windows XP

However:

Clone has 802.11b/g Wi-Fi

Acer Android next month

At the Computex 2009 there was an Acer display showing the proposed Acer and Android OS combination, initially it was announced that the would be a working model of the Acer Aspire One D250 with the Android Operating System in August, but that is in a couple of weeks time!

The Acer Aspire Timeline 1810T leaked

The Timeline from Acer may come under the netbook banner, but considering that the specs have now been released or leaked, this computer seems to fall into the laptop category now. It may have the look and feel of a mini laptop but this carries some series specs and although not mentioned we expect it to come with Windows Vista with the option to upgrade to Windows 7 for free when it is released in October.

The Gateway LT3100 series at BestBuy

It is great to see that BestBuy are not hanging around when it comes to new laptops and there is no exception with the LT series from Gateway. They have the prices starting at $399, which is okay, the main difference between this, and the Acer Aspire One is that they have replaced the Intel with the AMD Athlon processor.

The all new or not so new Acer Aspire One 751 is a far cry from those early days, but not so different to the recent released versions. This machine has a slimmer profile, easy to use keyboard, bright hi-res display and a supposedly long battery life; these are of course the good points, which actually seem to outweigh the bad points such as single touchpad button and performance.

Gateway launches the 11.6 inch LT3100

Although the Gateway brand is owned by Acer, the laptops that they bring out appear to have been designed very differently, that was until Gateway came up with the 11.6 inch LT3100. This follows Acer; with one exception, it uses an AMD chip, which is interesting! This computer will be available very soon.
