The Californian based start up Kno has raised a further $46 million in order to launch its double screened digital textbook device, which is effectively two tablets hinged together that operates like a book or magazine.
The company had already raised around $9 million to get things going, taking the total amount raised to $55 million, but the firm feels that is now in a position to get the double tablet design in the store before the end of the year.
The Kno device will be running a Linux operating system and will use the Google Chrome browser, it is meant to eventually replace the need for textbooks, as it has the advantage of the user being able to write notes on pages.
So far the estimates on the retail price is somewhere around the $1,000 mark!
