Despite the claims by computer and chip makers like Dell and Intel, that the term “Netbook” should be cancelled as a trademark of Psion, because they do not sell any hardware. The company at the root of the Netbook scandal Psion have responded with a letter claiming that they are still selling Netbooks.

Dell and the others want to use the term Netbook for their own mini laptops, which have been designed for use with mobile broadband services. So in order for them to use this term Psion who own the name would need to give it up. However, owning this name could work out to very valuable and they are not likely to give it up without a fight.
