Review of the Asus U series (Air)
Some people may think that Asus are simply going around poaching other computer maker’s ideas and I suppose that could be true to some extent. However, once a design is out there for all to see what is there to stop anyone from designing something very similar with some subtle changes. This U series is somewhat smart on how it has entered the marketplace, it is clearly a desirable machine and make things better it also comes with Intel’s Consumer Ultra Low Voltage (CULV) processor, you would have to wonder where they manage to fit it all considering that it is only 1.2 inches thick!
Specs:
The 12-inch U20A, 13.3-inch UX30 and 15.6-inch UX50V
Based on Intel’s Consumer Ultra Low Voltage (CULV)
Entry 1.2GHz Celeron M in the U20A to the 1.3GHz Pentium, 1.4GHz Core 2 Solo and 1.6GHz Core 2 Duo in the UX30 and UX50V
Slim model is the UX30 that measures 0.9-inch thick
Weighs in at only 3.5 pounds (without a DVD burner)
All models feature 802.11n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and LED-backlit screen
Up to 500GB HDD
Up to 4GB of RAM
The U20A and UX30 use Intel’s GMA 4500 graphics
The UX50V has a dedicated GeForce G 105M with 512MB of video memory
