Sony Vaio gets OS X

It is amazing how the hackers get the time to do some of their best work, take “DaHarder” who has managed to get a brand new Sony Vaio P and converted to run the Leopard operating system. This may not be all of that impressive as it stands.

However, whoever has one of these mini laptops running the OS X effectively has a Mac Book that is small enough to be carried around, but as with many hacks like this is that not all of the applications will work and it is probably going to be the ones that the user wants to use all of time.

One Response to Sony Vaio gets OS X

Generally, I’m against Hackintoshes. I think that if you want OS X you should pay Apple for it. At the very least, you should purchase a legit copy of OS X (most hackintosh people don’t)… but realistically, if you want everything to work, just get a Mac.

That said, I’m more against inaccurate reporting on websites. PCs running OS X can, in general, run all the applications that a regular Mac can. Where they run into problems is with hardware support. Unless you’re very particular in your hardware selection, you may have problems getting everything to work well. ie: Your wifi or onboard ethernet may not be supported. Audio might not work out the headset jack, etc.

But apps, they should run fine.

You just don’t want to do many software upgrades via the Software Update preference pane.
