After the Gateway brand was taken over by Acer they have been coming out with some decent machines like the latest offering the LT1004U Netbook, these have been appearing at some Office Depot stores.
The machine itself has an 8.9 inch display, Atom N270 1.6-GHz CPUs, 1GB of RAM, and a 160GB hard drive. However, Gateway still has a problem as being one of the lower league computer makers, which for some people and retailers is a big problem.

THE GATEWAY LT 1004U IS A SLEEPER IN THE MINI NOTE MARKETPLACE.
IT SPECS ARE AS GOOD AS MOST OF THE COMPETETION AND THE COSMETICS TALE IT TO A HIGHER LEVEL–LOVE THE GLOSSY BLACK FINISH AND THE SILVER LOOK DETAILING ON THE HINGE CONNECTING THE 8.9 INCH BRIGHT CLEAR DISPLAY–HUGHLY RECOMMEND THIS UNIT OVER THE Asus eee,HP, and Lenova—this is a home run in my book__
I purchased this netbook and love it. It feels solidly built and has performed flawlessly. I hope Gateway places this in other retailers like Best Buy
