Wednesday Laptop News Roundup

The biggest news today came from HP, as the company released information about the first consumer-targeted multi-touch tablet notebook, the TouchSmart TX2. (Catch our coverage here.) cNet dug through the dirt and found a great video from N-Trig, which partnered with HP to produce the new notebook:

And just as I got to bitching about the excess of netbooks out there with the release of a Epson netbook in Japan, AMD is making me one happy Laptop Pimp. The processor giant said today that it will be focusing production on notebooks, kissing off the netbook market. AMD is going to let the slumming fall into Intel’s hands alone. They won’t compete in the low-price, low-spec market.

And speaking of pimping, Dailymotion has teamed up with One Laptop Per Child to launch a contest to promote the cause of bringing notebooks to everyone. Learn more with this video:
