Psion settles the “Netbook” issue

For a while, the use of Netbook has been a little fragile, even though the word has almost become the generic term for a mini laptop the term has actually been claimed by Psion as being a trademark and as such demanded that any firm using the term to market their products should immediately stop.

A lengthy legal case has followed this decision between Psion and the chip maker Intel, this case had the potential to run on for years and cost either side millions of dollars. However, in a surprising turn of events, it seems that both Psion and Intel have stopped legal proceedings, although the details are limited! Psion have agreed not to seek any damages from any firm that uses the Netbook name now or in the future.
