Another cool ‘hack’ is to make /tmp a ramdrive (way faster IO) and then move anything that uses disk cache to /tmp.
fstab entry:
tmpfs /tmp tmpfs size=512M,mode=1777 0 0
Make firefox’s cache live in /tmp:
about:config
-> browser.cache.disk.parent_directory (string) /tmp/firefox_cache
