As incredible as it may sound, this is not a typo or mistake, a touchscreen tablet style computer has gone on sale in India at the staggering price of just $35! If you think that is low then think again because the makers are planning to drop the price further in order to offer the nation a $10 computer! The device is primarily designed to be used by students, but eventually these computers could be rolled out to everyone in the country that wants one. Clearly this device is not going to compete with the iPad, but it demonstrates that getting people online and using computers as a matter course. The device has no hard drive, they use memory cards instead but at that price is it going to matter?
UPDATE: ASUS T91 Available on Amazon.co.uk! UPDATE: ASUS T91 Available on Amazon.com! Consumers in the UK are likely to be getting rather frustrated with the computer maker from Taiwan; Asus have yet again delayed the launch of the cool looking T91. The 8.9″ convertible netbook had initially been delayed to the 22nd June due to logistical issues. Now it seems that the new delivery date has been set at towards the end of July, the company guarantee that there will not be any more delays, the company want buyers to be totally happy with their purchase, well it would help if it was delivered in the first place.
The LaptopPimp sees a lot of laptops, but rarely does he drool over one like this! HP unveiled the Touchsmart TX2 this morning, and boy am I excited to see what the first-ever consumer multi-touch tablet has to offer, other than the obvious presure it puts on the PC and Mac laptop market. Starting around $1,150, the TX2 is a trend setter for sure. Not only does the multi-touch display offer a tablet orientation, you can use any number of the movements we have been craving since Minority Report featured Tom Cruse soving crime with hand gestures. That means dragging, resizing, pinching, selecting, flicking and double taping — all with your fingers! So put some gloves on, it’s cold out there and you’re going to need those fingertips. The gestures will work with the built-in Windows Vista environment, as well as with HP’s Mediasmart software, which will transform the TX2 into a home entertainment system. (Mediasmart is adding MTV, Comedy Central and Nickelodeon programing this year.) Weiging in at 4.5 pounds, HP packed one hell of a system into the bottom half of the TX2. The high-end guts include a 2.4GHZ AMD Turion X2 processor, 8 GB of RAM, a … Continue reading →
a

The Fujitsu LifeBook U820 is probably a dying breed. The handheld PC is really handheld these days. Blackberrys, iPhones and PDAs can all run full operating systems and compete with laptops as on-the-go devices. But for now, Fujitsu is going to keep moving with the handheld PC market. These days, $1,199 will get you a tablet-style U820 with specs on par with a number of truly handheld devices. Unfortunately, most agree with the PC Magazine review, saying that the day for handheld PCs is over. As pointed out by Gadget Venue, the small display is a pretty big con for the tiny tablet. There are some strong points to the U820, especially the novelty of the device itself. The stylus-sensitive tablet is a slick looking frame, and the up-to-date specs make it competitive with a number of low-price Dell notebooks. The short list of Specs: Operating System: Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium Processor: Intel Atom Z530 Processor Speed: 1.6 GHz RAM: 1 GB Weight: 1.5 lb Screen Size: 5.6 inches Graphics: Intel GMA 500 Storage Capacity: 60 GB Networking Options: 802.11 g Primary Optical Drive:External Find more info on the U820 at Fujitsu’s website. a Fujitsu Laptops, fujitsu lifebook, gma … Continue reading →
a

The new Raon Digital Everun Notebook comes with a touchscreen and lots of “small” functionalities for the power user at the current predicted retail price of $879 USD. It looks pretty small to me and I do like that couple with a 7″ 1024×600 pixels, which provide you with plenty room to scroll. Of course, the price doesn’t justify the features provided in my opinion but there’s enough power in this small 7-inch beast. (I do like the Windows XP, no more Vista on any of my new comps.) This balance of leading-edge power, battery life and miniaturisation doesn’t come cheap but in the world of pro-mo devices, this is really on-the-mark. The recommended sales price is $879 (US, before tax.) which means its way, way cheaper than the other high-performance UMPCs, the Sony UX and the Q1 Ultra Premium and it includes a 16mm pitch keyboard and easy 3G upgrade path. With Windows XP Home (yes, I know some of you would be looking for TE or Vista) it will really fly. via engadget, umpcportal Other Resources: Link to Technical Specs of Raon Digital Everun Notebook a 1024x600, 7" Netbooks, battery life, beast, functionalities, high performance, keyboard, Laptop News, … Continue reading →
a
