HP Launch the Classmate PC

This initially looks like the old clamshell style Apple computer, but without the bright oranges and purples! However, this is in fact an offering from HP and it has been initially called the Classmate laptop the next netbook being targeted towards the kids, the true name is not known yet. HP has launched the Compaq Airlife 100 it comes with the Qualcomm Snapdragon ARM processor and an integrated 3G modem, nothing special about that then! However, after some clever detective work, the people over at Wireless goodness discovered that the HP has filed some interesting docs with the FCC for the Compaq Airlife 100. It seems that the docs mention GSM 850 & 900, as well as WCDMA bands 2 and 5, which just happens to be the bands that are used by AT&T for mobile broadband. Many of us believed that the new HP netbook was going to be reasonably priced, by that we assume that it would cost around $400, but it seems that something has gone terribly wrong here somewhere because all of a sudden the new mini has a price tag of $749, although there is a lower model with a $599 price tag. Designer laptops hit the catwalk

It is not that often that you can mention laptop and cat walk in the same title, but as it happens this is one of those occasions and it is quite exciting too. It is all down to the designer Vivienne Tam who has once more come up with a terrific design for the HP Mini. This time the design is more subtle, whereas the previous one was shades of red and in bold patterns, whereas with this design the shades are lower in tone and the design is that of a butterfly. Sometimes you cannot go on the numeric values that manufacturers put onto the models, like the Mini 110 from HP; this is supposed to be replacing the HP Mini 1000! Therefore, there are some light changes in size and looks, but if there is so little to choose from what exactly are the main difference between the two models? The differences between two models: Thicker and heavier. No more glare. It’s got a matte screen now. No awfully slow or small storage (1.8″ PATA) this time. There is a standard 2.5″ SATA drive in there with a 160GB HDD. Now with VGA port. No need for a dongle. No Edge-to-edge display (glass that covers both the screen and bezel) Comes in three colors (white, black and pink) Speaker no longer in the hinge. Same position, but further below at the bottom.
