It is amazing how kids quickly pick things up and computers are one of those items that kids can quickly get used to and before long; it is second nature to them.

However, buying a netbook or laptop for kids can be a bit temperamental, for basic netbooks are available at around $250, but netbooks for kids are on sale for $650! There is no logic to it and yet these computers such as the Kids Classmate by KidsComputers.com.

Classmate PC Goes Convertible

The latest version of the Classmate PC comes as a convertible tablet making it much more easier for the children to operate under classroom conditions and when the child needs to use a laptop in the conventional manner it can be easily and quickly sorted.

According to the maker of the device Intel, the Classmate PC has a decent 10.1 inch display, rather than the older 8.9 inch display that is generally too small to be used at school. There are also two versions of screen resolution to choose from, the standard 1024 x 600 and the hi res 1368 x 768.

Atom processor in Classmate PC

The Classmate netbook that has been designed for use in schools, hence the name! Will be using the next generation in Intel Processors the Atom N450 as part of the design pack that is offered to quite a few distributors.

Specs – 1.66 GHz Intel Atom N450 Pine Trail processor, 1 GB of RAM, a 160 GB hard drive, 10.1 inch 1024 x 600 anti-glare display, 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi, Ethernet, a 1.3 MP webcam, multi-format flash card reader, 3 USB ports and a VGA output.
