The Gateway P-7811FX is Gateway’s first retail laptop available only through Best Buy. It’s a little older, but I thought it was worth taking a look at because its specs and design are really holding up against some really recent additions to the laptop market. Obviously, just by looking at it, you can see that the 7811FX fits right in with any number of current laptops in the design category. The orange piping is like totally right now. (Sorry.) But beyond looks, who are the specs on this $1,499 laptop? First, the 17-inch screen and the availability of a Blu-Ray drive make this a likely candidate for the center of a home media setup or a first-rate desktop replacement.
