An eighteen inch laptop from Alienware would be something and although there is some evidence that Dell could be thinking about producing such an addition to the Alienware range of computers, according to the firm, they are not. Therefore, the evidence is that on the image below the model number M18x turned up, this would naturally mean that the firm have a model number and therefore must have a plan for the machine. However clicking on the link takes you to the page designated for the M17x laptop, so if you sneakily swap the seven with an eight in the URL and press enter, where does this take you? To a 404 Page Not Found. Very frustrating and exciting for a few minutes, at least, so come on Dell is there an Alienware M18x in the pipeline. However, a leak tells us that something is on its way and that is what we like to see or hear whatever the case may be. It seems that an engineer at Dell has been leaking some details on the M18x machine that is currently in development and if this Alienware laptop is going to attract the gamers, then it should address the issues that gamers have complained about . The issues are battery life, weight, noisy and prone to getting a little bit warm; all of these factors together mean that the idea of gaming while travelling is not as great as it could be.
As soon as you hear the name Alienware, you automatically think of performance and that is understandable as for a long time we have been under the impression that an Alienware laptop is one of the top branded machines that is fully capable of out performing some high end desktop PC’s. But it seems that there may be an issue with the Alienware M17X, this is where the graphics processing unit or GPU is for some unknown reason using up more juice than it is supposed to, in fact in some case more than the actual computer is able to deliver, which is going to be major problem is left unchecked! To make things worse, it would appear that this issue is only affecting those laptops that have been built to highest specifications. but when pushed Dell have decided to opt for the more practical and cost effective software fix for the problem, but this is not being hailed as the solution a 100% of the problems being face by Alienware M17X owners. It is an 11.6 inch machine that can easily be switched from gaming to normal use and visa versa, however the user decides to use this machine will have a long lasting effect on the battery. The specs for the Alienware M11X * 6 1/2 hours battery life (battery mode) * 2 hours of “intense gaming” – thanks to the faster NVIDIA GPU which can be switched to in seconds without the need to log out or to restart the machine. * Video out via DisplayPort, HDMI and VGA * 3D mark scores in 6-7k range * 50FPS Crysis, 30FPS Call of Duty on high settings * HDMI connector for plugging in an HDTV.
Is Alienware still a real brand? Some folks think that they are just a Dell with a flashy casing. However, whatever the case is they do now come along with the great Intel Core i7 mobile processor providing super fast speed, well the Alienware M15X does. At least Alienware users can now quote that when faced with the question of is it a Dell or is it a separate machine although, it would be interesting to gauge what people think about the Dell Vs Alienware question!
Get ready to game. But don’t get ready to move the 9.5 pound Alienware M17 around. For serious gamers wanting a serious laptop with almost limitless upgrade options, the new M17 is one piece of machine. While it’s not the best looking frame, as Alienware went back to old school cases, the M17 packs a punch on the inside with the basic setup of an Intel Core 2 Duo and ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3870. However, thats all just the beginning. The M17 offers dual processor and graphics setups for a price. cNet tested a version of the M17 with the following setup: Our test system includes dual ATI Radeon HD 3870 GPUs, 64-bit Windows Vista, 3GB of RAM, and a 7,200rpm 160GB hard drive for $1,999. Our review unit features a dual-core, Penryn-class Core 2 Duo P8400 processor. With that system, the reviewers found a lot to like about the notebook — mostly from a gaming standpoint. cNet reported trouble with the trackpad, but that shouldn’t be a problem for serious gamers who will bring a mouse to the party. Of course, on paper, the M17 looks like a very suitable gaming platform. But serious gamers won’t want to … Continue reading →
a

Alienware launches their Area 51 m17x 17-inch laptop. Well, I am a big fan of 17-inch laptops even though there is the mini-laptop kraze in the air. The freakin’ laptop comes with a NVIDIA® GeForce® 8800M GTX with up to 1GB of dedicated graphics memory , which makes my mouth water. Of course, performace does come at price and you will be seeing at least $5,000 before you can experience ultimate gaming experience. The Verdict This is a fully customizable laptop so it can be a good desktop-substitute laptop for all your computing needs. But don’t buy it if you need a portable laptop, I doubt the battery will last with all the power consumption. The Area 51 does include many HD options so if you are going to hook up your HD LCD TV to your laptop, this is the ultimate laptop to get. Alienware computers are fast and powerful. Outfitting the Area-51 m17x notebook with the Intel® Core™ 2 Extreme processor, Alienware achieves benchmarks previously unimagined on a mobile system. HD video editing, audio mixing, 3D model rendering and other resource intensive applications suddenly seem less taxing when you have the power of an Alienware behind you. via … Continue reading →
a
