asus-r50

As many of you have already witnessed the ultra-small Eee PC netbooks, the ASUS R50 is even smaller than a netbook, classified as a “UMPC”.

Here’s the specs and details of what’s to come:

Btw, this one doesn’t qualify as a netbook or mini-note, but we still like the small size but where’s the keyboard?

Raon Digital Everun Notebook with Touchscreen?

Raon Digital Everun Note!

The new Raon Digital Everun Notebook comes with a touchscreen and lots of “small” functionalities for the power user at the current predicted retail price of $879 USD.  It looks pretty small to me and I do like that couple with a 7″ 1024×600 pixels, which provide you with plenty room to scroll.

Of course, the price doesn’t justify the features provided in my opinion but there’s enough power in this small 7-inch beast.  (I do like the Windows XP, no more Vista on any of my new comps.)

This balance of leading-edge power, battery life and mi

Eee PC helps Asustek become sixth largest PC vendor!

This is definite proof that mini-laptops or UMPC are the future of laptops.

Asustek Computer shipped around 1.4 million notebooks in the first quarter of 2008 and ranked number eight in terms of market share. However, if Eee PC shipments of around 700,000 units are included, the company’s shipments jump to 2.1 million units, surpassing those of Fujitsu and Apple, to rank in sixth place, and closely trailing behind Lenovo who shipped 2.2-2.3 million units, according to a recent report from IDC.

Intel’s Eco PC might be Intel’s challenge to EEC Pcs and all the other mini-laptops coming out.

This is how the Eco PC (or the Classmate PC) is going to look. So far it’s rumored to be a 10-inch laptop with a 9-inch display that weighs a little under 3 pounds and will sell for sub-$400. CTL IL1PC Reviewed!

CTL IL1PC Reviewed!

I really wish mini-laptop manufacturer start naming their machines with some sense instead of all these “eec pc”, “Il1pc”, etc…etc…

Well, to get to the point, this CTL Il1PC comes with a 60GB harddrive at $449.  I wouldn’t buy one yet even though I am an early adaptor, wait till the mass tries it and the prices drops in half.  (Did I say I was an early adaptor?  Sorry sometimes I am the other way around…)

To me, it still looks very shabby, I think manufacturers could do better.

Bestlink’s Alpha 400 Linux-based ultra-mini PC (UMPC)!

Bestlink's Alpha 400 Linux-based ultra-mini PC (UMPC)!

It looks like Bestlink’s Alpha 400 linux-based UMPC might become the “cheapest” mini laptop you will be able to own at $250 and possible sale at $180.

With the recent explosion of UMPCs by big manufacturers, this sure looks like its going to be another hit.

Especially since a lot of desktop applications are being developed as web counterparts including Microsoft Office, there’s no need for the laptop user to carry all his applications on the laptop, maybe on a 8GB SD card.

What might be better is if they inclu
