Raon Digital Everun Notebook with Touchscreen?

Raon Digital Everun Note!

The new Raon Digital Everun Notebook comes with a touchscreen and lots of “small” functionalities for the power user at the current predicted retail price of $879 USD.  It looks pretty small to me and I do like that couple with a 7″ 1024×600 pixels, which provide you with plenty room to scroll.

Of course, the price doesn’t justify the features provided in my opinion but there’s enough power in this small 7-inch beast.  (I do like the Windows XP, no more Vista on any of my new comps.)

This balance of leading-edge power, battery life and mi

Eee PC helps Asustek become sixth largest PC vendor!

This is definite proof that mini-laptops or UMPC are the future of laptops.

Asustek Computer shipped around 1.4 million notebooks in the first quarter of 2008 and ranked number eight in terms of market share. However, if Eee PC shipments of around 700,000 units are included, the company’s shipments jump to 2.1 million units, surpassing those of Fujitsu and Apple, to rank in sixth place, and closely trailing behind Lenovo who shipped 2.2-2.3 million units, according to a recent report from IDC.

Intel Eco PC

intel-eco-pc

Intel’s Eco PC might be Intel’s challenge to EEC Pcs and all the other mini-laptops coming out.

This is how the Eco PC (or the Classmate PC) is going to look. So far it’s rumored to be a 10-inch laptop with a 9-inch display that weighs a little under 3 pounds and will sell for sub-$400. It’s supposed to run on a 900MHz Celeron processors, with 512MB of RAM, a 40GB hard drive, built-in WiFi and Ethernet. It has decent specs for a $400 laptop.

CTL IL1PC Reviewed!

CTL IL1PC Reviewed!

I really wish mini-laptop manufacturer start naming their machines with some sense instead of all these “eec pc”, “Il1pc”, etc…etc…

Well, to get to the point, this CTL Il1PC comes with a 60GB harddrive at $449.  I wouldn’t buy one yet even though I am an early adaptor, wait till the mass tries it and the prices drops in half.  (Did I say I was an early adaptor?  Sorry sometimes I am the other way around…)

To me, it still looks very shabby, I think manufacturers could do better.

Bestlink’s Alpha 400 Linux-based ultra-mini PC (UMPC)!

Bestlink's Alpha 400 Linux-based ultra-mini PC (UMPC)!

It looks like Bestlink’s Alpha 400 linux-based UMPC might become the “cheapest” mini laptop you will be able to own at $250 and possible sale at $180.

With the recent explosion of UMPCs by big manufacturers, this sure looks like its going to be another hit.

Especially since a lot of desktop applications are being developed as web counterparts including Microsoft Office, there’s no need for the laptop user to carry all his applications on the laptop, maybe on a 8GB SD card.

What might be better is if they inclu

Cowon A3 gets upgraded with 80GB

cowon-pmp

Cowon A3, a PMP that’s capable of recording pictures and video media and pretty much nothing else, gets bumped to 80GB.

We’d already heard that the Cowon A3 would be getting a bump to 80GB, and the company has now not only gotten official about a US release for it, but dropped word of new 80GB Q5W as well. You can look for the upgraded A3 to land in the US first on May 26th for $440 (a good deal less than the $691 Euro-to-dollar conversion we heard about initially), with the 80GB Q5W following in late June for $600. Both models are othe
