Get this watch and while your cell phone is safely tucked away, you will be alerted via Bluetooth as to who is calling you. The watch has a neat little LED display that acts as the caller ID, that way when the phone rings you simply have to look at the watch to see whose calling instead of fumbling around in your bag or pocket. Product details of the Bluetooth watch with caller ID display: •Displays caller name and/or number on screen (some phones only display number) •A text icon will appear when receiving text message (please note – this feature only works on some phones, mostly Sony Ericson. This feature does NOT show the actual text message) •Mute your phone’s ringer by pushing a button on the watch •Rechargeable battery with power save function •Bluetooth 2.0 •96×16 pixel OLED display •Leather band •Stainless steel case •Bluetooth pairing code “0000″ (four zeroes) Priced at $69.99 was $79.99 (save 13%) Source [Think Geek] a cell phone device, Laptop Fun, Laptop Hack, The Bluetooth Caller ID Watch
a

One of the first things that you are going to think about this laptop is that it is an Apple rip, but that of course may not be the intention of Teclast with their X13 S01 laptop. But the similarities are uncanny. So what does this have to offer? First of all it comes with 13.3 inch display, 1 cm to 2.3 cm thick, white keyboard, aluminium case and that is about it as further details, prices and availability are a little limited at the moment.
While Microsoft is still working on their new version of Courier tablet that rumored to feature two touchscreens, someone has just hacked their Dell Mini with touchscreens and an extra LCD display to get a “hacked” Courier. This might be a good example to follow but one thing for sure, do you really want to carry this around? My Dell Mini forum member pakkei decided he couldn’t wait for Microsoft to release the Courier and thought he’d make one himself, converting his Inspiron Mini 9 into a slate-format tablet and adding in a second, 9-inch USB touchscreen. via slashgear a courier hack, dual touchscreen, how to, Laptop Design, Laptop DIY, Laptop Hack, make, notebook
a

Click Here to View in Full Screen Mode This cool Dell Mini 9 Hack involves adding an accelerometer to an existing touchscreen so you can move it sideways and let the screen auto rotate. We think it’s definitely a good hack worth mentioning on Laptop Pimp, what do you think? iRotate enables you to use a key-combination to rotate your screen, in this case CTRL+ALT+DIRECTIONAL ARROW is the combination in play here. Xpadder enables you to map keys to controller buttons from a gamepad. The idea is to have Xpadder sense a change in orientation, and program it to press the correct key-combination used in iRotate, in order to rotate the screen accordingly. via mydellmini a accelerometer, add, dell mini 9 hack, how to, Laptop DIY, Laptop Hack
a

Check out this incredible Dell Mini 9 that someone hacked into a mini tablet! Brilliant! If you know a little bit about disassembling laptops and hardware, this might be a doable project for you. The base model is a Dell Vostro A90 (bluetooth, .3mp webcam, 1GB RAM, upgraded 16GB SSD). The touchscreen is the Hoda Technology solderless touchscreen kit. I started this project back in June, and it was 80% complete then. I took a break for a few months then finally started filling in the gaps in the frame with plastic epoxy. It took me another few weeks to come up with a way to mount the power switch and the covers for where the hinges were. It is fully complete and functional now, though I will probably go ahead and paint/primer the body filler and paint the powerswitch silver from its current green color. I also am looking into adding an accelerometer to automatically rotate the screen, similar to an iphone. via hackaday a accelerometer, dell mini 9, dell mini hack, dell vostro, diy, Laptop DIY, Laptop Hack, laptops
a

Since netbooks these days come with 5 to 10+ hours of battery life, they can be a great source for charging your USB devices. Of course, if you don’t want to turn on your netbook and charge your USB gadgets, there’s a hack that shows you how to add USB charging ports on an MSI Wind netbook battery. This hack should be pretty safe as most USB gadgets run on 5VDC, which is practically harmless. DJ Josef Průša, the author of the iPhone/Arduino/MaxMSP/OSC hack from iPhone Hacks, just let me know about this great project he made from a spare MSI Wind battery; a nice and juicy battery pack for USB devices. He was originally looking for something to power his Monome 128, but it ended up being great for his iPhone as well. And the battery can still be used in the Wind, apparently. via make Download latest version of Flash to view video!.
Here’s a rather interesting laptop DIY where Mike has built a laptop stand that will fit perfectly snug in his car’s cup-holder using PVC pipes. This might beat the socks off many in-car laptop stands out there that cost big dollars. Heck, I am gonna go make one this week! Great DIY Mike! The commercially made units also bolt to the floor and take time and tools to install and remove. I always thought there had to be a better way. One day I had a brainstorm. I figured out a quick and easy way to build a laptop tray for my Tacoma that cost a little over $30! Thats 1/10 of what the commercially made units cost! And it only took me an afternoon to build it. via hackaday a brainstorm, cup holder, diy, Laptop Accessories, Laptop DIY, Laptop DIY, Laptop Fun, Laptop Fun, Laptop Hack, Laptop Hack, Laptop News, laptop stand, laptop tray, pvc pipes, socks
a

Hey Gang, I hope you all had a good Thanksgiving, or a nice Thursday if you don’t celebrate the holiday. I’m back today with a new hack and some laptop news from around the globe. The hack today is for all you Mac fans out there. This video will teach you how to use the iPhone as a wireless router anywhere you go. A great tip and excellent hack. You need an iPhone and it has to be hacked, or “jailbraked,” to run some of the software. As for the news around the net, everyone is out shopping today. And with so many great laptop deals out there, combined with a push for netbooks, I’m curious to see if laptops make big sales today. Smaller newspapers are covering Black Friday, with Best Buy getting most the coverage for its deals. PC World is reporting that analysts are predicting that mobile data will continue to be the next big movement in technology, with much of Europe already gearing up for the change. Just like me, cNet is wondering about the netbook’s future, and if the recent decision by AMD to stay away will force Intel to go all in or go … Continue reading →
a

Sad day! It’s official, Apple has added a new form of copy protection to it’s MacBooks. That means no fun TV nights for most everyone. Sorry gang. Looks like Apple users and copyright advocates are getting up and saying something, more news as that all unfolds. It seems this whole XO laptop craze isn’t ending anytime soon. Oh, that’s not a bad thing, wither. It was announced today that NFL QB Tom Brady will be buying 1,500 of the little netbooks, which he will send off to Uganda. Excellent move Tommy Boy. Dude! Bad news for Dell. The computer giant posted a 5% drop in net income and a 3% decline in revenue for its fiscal third quarter, the WSJ reported. Looks like the once mighty supplier of all notebooks will need to do a little rebranding and mix up the market a little bit if they want to keep doing what they’re doing. Today’s How To is relatively simple, but it may not be something a lot of you laptop lovers might have tried. Today, you will learn how to use an XBox 360 to stream media from a laptop.
The folks over at Gizmodo have posted on this interesting and, absolutely illegal, new MacBook Nano. That’s right, it’s not a apple product, but it sure looks like one. I’m sure these won’t be on the market long at all, not if Steve Jobs has anything to say about it. The MSI U100 MacBook Nano is a lovely little knock off, with a great Mac design and a lot of good specs packed in to the case. Don;t ask wher to buy one, though. Because I have no idea where to find a black market Mac. The black market, I suppose. The photos and specs come from a Flickr account, and you can see the whole spread at Mickphoto’s page. Apparently, this fake machine comes in wither black or white to keep with Apple’s standards. (ha ha) The laptop comes loaded with both Windows XP and OSX Lepoard. (Even fakers dont like Vista.) So, while you are waiting for the new, real MacBook nano, check out the fake one for a while. Please let me know what you think about this box in hte comments. I have a feeling Mac addicts will scream “faker,” while PC lovers might like to … Continue reading →
a

You can take a look at the pics here and also some instructions here. Russian Eee PC 701 owner decided that his netbook would look better in his car’s dashboard than on his lap.
If you got a Dell Inspiron Mini 9 and you want to use your netbook as a GPS navigation system, you can do so easily by installing a GPS unit right by your bluetooth internals. I started by tearing the Mini down and seeing if it was even possible. Luckily, there’s a bit of space around where the Bluetooth adapter is located. It wasn’t much, but it looked like enough, so I ordered the smallest USB GPS receiver I could find. It’s a nice unit with a SkyTraQ chipset and support for AGPS. Once I used the included utility to download an AGPS update into the unit, it gets a location fix in about five seconds after a reset. via engadget, Hack Page a agps, bluetooth adapter, dell inspiron, Dell Laptops, gps navigation system, gps unit, hack page, Laptop DIY, Laptop Hack, Laptop News, netbook, Netbook Reviews
a

By making use of Microsoft’s Live Search cashback program, you can easily get 20% off HP laptops and stuff bought on eBay. One you enter your e-mail address, you will get the following: There, now you can buy stuff for 20% less. This should be great for any major purchases you make online. I started my search at Live.com and searched for “cheap” along with some product name; I tried a few variations such as “cheap wii” and “cheap laptop” and both worked. (Nick pointed out in the comments that you should sign into Live before you search; I’d forgotten that I was signed into Live when I started. Thanks, Nick!) Looked for the link titled “Buy A Cheap Laptop. You may get XX% off with PayPal if eligible.” (This morning, it was 30%. As I type this, it’s 20%) Searched for the MSI Wind (Buy it Now items only), and purchased it using Paypal. Made sure that at every step of the way, I saw the icon for “Microsoft cashback” at the top of the screen. via hackszine a cheap laptop, e mail address, ebay, hp, hp coupons, HP Laptops, HP Laptops, Laptop Deals, Laptop Hack, Laptop News, microsoft, … Continue reading →
a

Here’s a good Eee PC hack that will allow you to run your Windows XP faster with SSDs. This could probably apply to any netbook with SSDs. Cheaper SSD drives like our Core V1 and Core V2 series have limitations with random writes filling up the write buffer on the drive and causing the SATA controller to pause while this is flushed. The reason for this is Nand MLC drives at present have to erase before they write…hence you get added latency. So every bit written to the drive has to be preceded by a bit erased, the drive can not write over the top of pre written data. What we are trying to do here is limit how much XP writes to cache/database. many apps within XP do this, apps you add also do this (such as outlook) The tweaks you will see listed may help with this, SSD’s do not take well to lots of tiny random writes. via hackszine a apps, ASUS Netbooks, cache database, eee pc, Laptop DIY, Laptop Hack, Laptop News, netbook, Netbook Reviews, pc hack, solid state drives, SSD, SSD, ssd drives, tweaks, v1, windows xp, write buffer
a
