Averatec miss Christmas

The thing about launching a new product at this time of the year is to get it out before Christmas, this means late November or early December and not around a couple of days before the big day itself.

Anyway Averatec may be readying the new HS 105 netbook for a big launch at the CES in Vegas even though this is being marketed as a Christmas edition!

Specs – Atom N270 1.6GHz processor, 2GB of RAM, 10.1 inch LCD, 1024 x 600 resolution display, 160 GB or 250 GB hard disk, Wi-Fi, and 1.3 megapixel camera.

OLPC working on new range

If anyone has ever seen the current One Laptop Per Child (OLPC) machine they could easily be mistaken in thinking that it was a toy computer, whereas in fact they serve a good purpose.

Now it seems that OLPC are working on a more modern and up to date versions, in fact three models are being planned and it is a concept looks very interesting.

The new OLPC XO laptops are:

XO 1.5 – This laptop will run both Linux and Windows OS and will be available in 2010 for $200.

XO 1.75 – This will have 2x speed at 1/4 power. This laptop will have a market price of $150.
